Today is National Naloxone Awareness Day. 💜

Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose and help save a life. Having it with you means you could help someone in an emergency when every second counts.

Naloxone is available at YRC and we encourage our community to carry it and share it with others.

Looking out for each other can make a real difference. 💜

We’re Youth Recovery Connections 👋

Most people know us for supporting youth, but that’s just part of what we do. Many community members are surprised to learn we also support parents, caregivers, families, and adults across our community.

And we don’t stop at substance use support. We’re here for real-life needs and real-life goals.

From parenting education and peer support to wellness coaching, care coordination, reentry support, and more—we offer services that meet people where they are and support where they want to go.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting these programs and how they show up for our community. You might find support you didn’t know was here for you or someone you care about. 💜

Somos Youth Recovery Connections 👋

Meet Monica! 💜

Monica enjoys connecting with parents, learning about their needs, and helping them set goals that move them toward where they want to be. One of her favorite parts of the job is seeing the positive impact the YRC team has on individuals, families, and the community.

For Monica, this work is meaningful because it allows her to support parents through challenges, celebrate their successes, and be part of their journey. She believes that when we work together to support families, we create positive change that reaches far beyond one person.

A few fun facts about Monica:
🌳 Favorite hobby: Spending time in nature, hiking, reading, and writing
🍦 Favorite snacks: Chips, chocolate cake, and ice cream
🎵 She enjoys Spanish rock, reggae, and classical music
🎙️ Her favorite podcasts are those that focus on personal growth and development
😂 Fun fact: Monica loves playing pranks on her children, siblings, nieces, and nephews!

We’re grateful to have Monica on the YRC team and for the care, compassion, and leadership she brings to our community every day. 💙

Big shoutout to Public Health for partnering with us last month and holding a FREE Naloxone (Narcan) Drive-Through! 🙌💙

The community showed up strong! We ran out of Narcan within the first 30 minutes and had to call for backup. 🚗💨

Thanks to everyone who stopped by, we distributed over 100 boxes of Naloxone—helping make our community safer, one box at a time.

Thank you for showing up, spreading awareness, and being part of the solution. 💪✨

Did you know Youth Recovery Connections has interns? 🤯

Hi everyone! My name is Genessis, and I’m currently an MPH student at San José State University interning with YRC! I’ll be helping out with social media content.

A little about me:
🍿 Favorite snacks/drinks: Butter popcorn, pretzels, Dr Pepper, and LaCroix
🎮 Favorite hobby: Anime, reading webtoons/manga, and playing video games
✨ Favorite series: The Legend of Zelda
🎵 Fun fact: I listen to a lot of J-pop and K-pop even though I don’t know what they’re saying 😭

I work and grew up in Hollister, so this community is important to me. Before public health, I studied psyc, and through my own experience with mental health challenges, I learned how important it is for people and organizations to show up for others. YRC provides a lot of people support and care, and I hope for everyone to get to know them a bit better —I’m learning a lot myself! 🫶

If you have any questions about me or YRC drop them below ⬇️

Mental health is part of overall health. Just like we take care of our physical health, we all have mental health that deserves care and attention too.

Some people also live with mental health conditions that can make daily life more difficult, but support is available. At YRC, we help people with mental health issues connect to the healthcare or services they may need.

No one should have to go through difficult times alone. 🫶

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
