​Right now, there are brave men and women stationed far from home, missing their families, their comforts, and the communities they fight to protect.

At VFW Post 9242, we are putting together our next round of Care Packages to be sent out on July 14th,2026 and we need your help to make it happen.

​A simple reminder that they are loved and remembered means the world when you're oceans away. Here is how we can wrap them in our community's gratitude:

We’re collecting beef jerky, protein bars, high-quality socks, puzzle books, and travel-sized toiletries—the little everyday things that feel like a luxury overseas.

Today, we celebrate 251 years of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.

Since June 14, 1775, the men and women of the United States Army have stood the line, answering the call to protect our nation, our freedoms, and each other.

Being part of the Army family means understanding the true weight of words like loyalty, duty, and honor. It’s a bond forged in training, tested in hardship, and carried proudly for a lifetime.

Today, we don’t just celebrate an institution; we celebrate the incredible people—past and present, active duty, reserves, National Guard, and veterans—who have worn the uniform with pride.

To our soldiers and veterans, and to the resilient military families who stand strong behind them: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your enduring strength.

🇺🇸 D-Day Remembrance — June 6, 1944 🇺🇸

Today, the members of VFW Post 9242 pause to honor the extraordinary courage of the young men who stepped into the uncertainty of history on the shores of Normandy 82 years ago.

Many were barely out of their teens. They left behind families, friends, and dreams of the future, knowing the cost of freedom could be their own lives. Yet they moved forward through fear, chaos, and overwhelming odds because they believed that liberty was worth defending.

On D-Day, thousands made the ultimate sacrifice so that future generations could live in freedom. Their bravery helped change the course of World War II and secured a better future for millions around the world.

As time passes and fewer members of the Greatest Generation remain with us, it becomes our responsibility to ensure their stories are never forgotten. We honor not only what they did, but who they were—ordinary Americans who answered an extraordinary call.

Today, we remember their sacrifice. We reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their service. And we renew our promise to keep their legacy alive.

May we never take for granted what they gave so much to preserve.
