Neighbors to Preserve San Benito

Neighbors to Preserve San Benito Supporting a unifying vision for our San Benito that is rooted in collaboration and positive input.

Neighbors to Preserve San Benito is a nonpartisan 501c4 organization, comprised of local San Benito residents who care deeply about preserving San Benito County communities and improving our quality of life for future generations. We believe in and support a unifying vision for our community that is rooted in collaboration and positive input from all San Benitoans. San Benito must prioritize impro

ving its roads and relieving traffic congestion through smart planning and forward-thinking. San Benito must fully fund its local schools and provide the best education for our children. San Benito must fully fund public safety and first responders to keep our communities safe from crime, drugs and wildfire risks. San Benito must address homelessness with a broad-based approach that includes mental health support and lower costs of living. San Benito must support its local merchants, restauranteurs and other small businesses. They provide the basis for our community’s character and economic opportunity and tax base. San Benito must support our local farmers and ranchers, who contribute so much to our local economy and who are the foundation of San Benito’s growing agritourism sector.

Sheriff Eric Taylor: “In public safety, the last thing we want to see is more housing and more traffic. My old police union in Watsonville was always asking that city to invest in commerce and stop the building of houses. A bedroom community does not bode well for those of us in this profession. It increases our service population, creates more traffic and congestion, and does nothing to fund our effort. Measure Q does nothing to prevent housing, nothing.”

“It’s not merely unethical, but the California FPPC is very clear about this type of political shell game: it’s like money-laundering.”

Who is funding over 90% of the Yes on Q campaign? No one knows because they won’t disclose their donors.

VOTE NO ON Q.

PORC has used questionable campaign tactics before, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise to local voters that PORC is skirting state campaign finance laws to pass their deceptive Measure Q. I want to know, who’s really behind all their outside money? It is a basic principle of disclosure that pol...

San Benito farmers and ranchers are taking a stand against Measure Q.

"“The initiative backers deceive voters by saying it will reduce sprawl and protect agriculture, when neither claim is true. The initiative places restrictions that will devastate commercial development and agriculture, while permitting nearly unchecked housing growth and increased traffic. That's why a historically broad, diverse and bipartisan coalition of San Benito farmers, ranchers, residents and community groups oppose it as a deceptive abuse of the initiative process.”

-Donald Wirz, President, San Benito County Farm Bureau

We are San Benito working families, ranchers, farmers, teachers, public safety leaders, and residents who are UNITED in urging our fellow San Benito neighbors to Vote NO on PORC’s deceptive Q measure.
