Giving Tuesday is a natural time to reflect on what makes Hollin Hills distinctive and how much of that comes from the generosity of supporters and volunteers.

Whether you’re a visitor, a current resident, or someone who once lived here, many of us share memories of the community’s mid-century architecture, varied landscapes, and more than 30 acres of parkland where people gather, walk, and spend quiet time in nature.

Your donation supports community events, educational programs, and the restoration and preservation of our 33 acres of volunteer-maintained parkland.

Thank you for your continued support of Friends of Hollin Hills. Your donations of money, time, and expertise make a meaningful difference in our neighborhood.

Friends of Hollin Hills was founded in 2017, as a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization to educate the public and protect the Hollin Hills Historic District, a unique mid-century modern neighborhood, as a national resource.

Thanks to everyone that came to Hollin Hills and the Modern Landscape yesterday. Landscape architect and Hollin Hills resident Dennis Carmichael, FASLA, LEED, AP led an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on landscaping for mid-century modern homes. Many of us know that the plants suggested in our original landscaping plans are now considered invasive or do not actively support our wildlife. Dennis presented some resources to find native alternatives, including:
- Plant NOVA Natives Master List of plants and details about their preferred growing conditions, so you can find the right plant for your yard - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q7Rs6z4VS3oF-vbh1nllIrteCqlRETRImKsSlxF1c84/edit?gid=0 =0
