Recently we had a special keynote speaker at our open house, David VanderMolen. He started his speech out with the mission statement of the Toastmasters Organization. A lot of people wonder what we do and who we are. That can mostly be found out by attending meetings, or by knowing this:

“We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.”

Last week we hosted our annual Macatawa Toastmasters Open House. It included special keynote speaker David VanderMolen who spoke about leadership. We had several first time guests and some new membership signups. Looking forward to introduce a few more fresh faces to the group!

Tonight! Thursday, September 21st, 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm, you are invited to Macatawa Toastmasters' open house! We will have a key note speaker, David VanderMolen, a Chief Catalyst of Inspired 2 Change, a transformative change agency. We will be providing refreshments, a game/movie theme raffle basket, and an opportunity for you to try your hand at Table Topics, or just listen while others give impromptu speeches based on the prompts they are given. Patricia got a “woot woot woot!” cheer from Mike for stepping up in the club and performing her first role as the Timer/Refreshments Master. She brought an array of snacks; fruit, vegetables, dips, and cookies for us to enjoy. This week she’ll be performing her second role where she will be hosting Table Topics. Come and it tonight! Thursday 8/24 from 6:15-7:30, 456 E 16th St in Holland. Mike will be our Toastmaster tonight, tasked with running the meeting as a whole. We are looking forward and hope to see more guests trickling in. You’re always welcome to join us and practice your public speaking, listening, and leadership skills OR just sit and observe. Last week we had nine Members attend including a new member induction for both Vince and Oliver.

Mike hosted Table Topics and had nine prompts to give us something to create a 1-2 minute impromptu speech about so everybody was able to participate. Our volunteers were:
