Team History
Toledo Hornets Home School Girls Volleyball Club began in 2009 when two moms, Mrs. Rebekah LaFontaine and Mrs. Nell Maser, wanted to share their love of the sport of volleyball with their daughters. Neither had formed or coached any teams and had very little experience. However, both had a determination to help their daughters grow in team skills and physical fitness. We started with a two week camp in July to teach the girls basic volleyball skills. Most of the girls had never played, but were excited about learning and determined to work hard. Eleven high school and fourteen junior high girls made up our teams in 2009. Our season ended with little, if any, wins but the hearts of the girls were won to the sport and their excitement spread as the 2010 teams grew by about 50%.
Our team has continued to grow, if not always in numbers, then certainly in skill level and maturity, over past several years and into this current season. From our humble beginnings of two families in 2009 to the present, we are amazed at how popular this program has become! We trust that God will continue to lead us and give us wisdom and that the program will be a blessing to all the girls and families involved.
