The Holland Community Garden(HCG)in Holland Michigan is a joint project between Community Action House, the Holland Area Master Gardeners and the Macatawa Resource Center. Not the typical community garden, produce goes to people in need, distributed through Community Action House. We welcome anyone that is willing to help with this effort. This group site is to keep all the friends of the garden,

past, present, and future informed of the efforts and activities surrounding the garden. The HCG started in 1999 by the Ottawa County Community Action Agency (OCCAA) with the help of the Master Gardener Program in Ottawa County to start a garden to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to low-income persons and families at risk of nutritional deficiency. The HCG is currently under the supportive oversight of Community Action House who also distributes the produce. The labor to realize the production of the many fruits and vegetables is provided by the efforts of churches, school classes, youth groups, Master Gardeners, Master Composters, Master Gardener candidates and numerous interested volunteers. These generous gifts of material, money and time are all greatly appreciated. Areas of participation include composting, bed preparation and maintenance, planting, harvesting, herbs, flowers, etc.
