History of the Mental Health Millage
In 2014 and 2015, Community Mental Health of Ottawa County (CMHOC) faced one of the most significant funding challenges in its history. During this period, CMHOC experienced a $2 million budget shortfall and a loss of $7 million in state funding. These cuts forced the reduction—and in some cases, the elimination—of critical services that many residents relied on.
Recognizing the urgent need to stabilize and strengthen the local behavioral health system, CMHOC and community leaders sought a long term solution. The result was the creation of the Ottawa County Mental Health Millage, approved by voters to ensure every resident has access to high quality mental health support close to home.
Mental health support prevents crises and restores hope ✨ From 24/7 crisis response to counseling and recovery programs, these services make a real difference every single day. Join us in voting YES on August 4 to renew this funding at no new cost to taxpayers.
