Craig Spoelhof spent his life investing in Holland/Zeeland's young people, and today we're remembering him alongside the rest of our community.

Craig and his wife, Wendy, are longtime supporters of the Holland/Zeeland Promise, sharing their resources to help hardworking local students realize their dreams of higher education. Their generosity has shaped countless student stories over the years.

That same commitment carried into his career. Craig served as the longtime CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland, where his passion and dedication helped the organization — and the kids it serves — thrive. Thousands of young people in the Holland/Zeeland area were impacted by his leadership and mentorship.

We grateful to partner with our friends at Boys & Girls Club in honoring Craig Spoelhof, one of our community's greatest champions. Please join us in remembering him for his many years of generosity and service.

"Including a gift to CFHZ in our estate plans is the way to create a big impact in the future. Just as others invested in our future, now we can do the same."

Inspired by teachers and mentors who encouraged them, José and Juanita Bocanegra give back to our community through nonprofit board service, volunteering, and everyday connections with families who need a hand. As Bridge Builder Legacy Society members, they've included CFHZ in their estate plans, helping extend their charitable impact beyond their lifetimes.

As we mark our seventy-fifth anniversary, we're grateful to those who are helping us prepare for and invest in the next 75 years of a thriving Holland and Zeeland.

Caring's 2025 Wills Survey shows that only 24% of American adults has a will. Without one, the things you care about most — family, community, the causes close to your heart — are left to chance instead of choice.

A will is one of the simplest ways to make sure your values outlive you. For many in our community, that includes a gift to the causes and organizations that shaped their lives here in Holland/Zeeland.

In partnership with your professional advisors, CFHZ can help you think through what a charitable legacy could look like. Learn more at https://cfhz.org/charitable-estate-planning-with-cfhz/

For 75 years, we've been connecting generosity with the causes and needs that matter most to Holland and Zeeland. Our 2025 annual report gives an overview of our financials, our impact, and the many partners who support and strengthen our work.

One of those partners is the Koster family. Dan and Jan Koster, whose story is featured in the report, put it this way: "CFHZ helps us identify which organizations might be a good fit for our charitable priorities, and how we can use our funds to impact some of the more complex needs in the community." Giving shouldn't be complicated. Since 1951, we've helped individuals, families, and organizations create lasting impact with a variety of charitable fund types.

Each of our fund types does something different, and part of our job is helping generous people find the right fit for their goals. Here's a look at the options.

Considering starting a fund, or thinking about increasing your impact? We're here to help!

For 75 years, we've helped connect generosity with the causes that matter. Some of those connections start in unexpected places - like a class reunion.

In 2023, the Zeeland High School Class of 1966 established a permanent fund at CFHZ to support the Holland/Zeeland Promise, supporting hardworking local students as they pursue a college degree. A few classmates were already giving to the Promise on their own and saw a chance to do more together. They were inspired, in part, by Holland High's Class of 1966, who had started their own Promise fund two years earlier. A little cross-town rivalry for a good cause!

It's one story among many. As we mark our 75th anniversary, we're looking back at the people and moments that built this community's legacy of giving.
