VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ❤️

As we continue this week and throughout the coming months providing FREE showers through our Clean Start Ministry Mobile Shower, we are looking for compassionate volunteers to join our team.

Our mobile shower ministry operates:
🛁 Mondays & Thursdays: 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
🛁 Saturdays (Family Units Only): 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

✂️ We are also blessed to have a volunteer barber who will be providing FREE haircuts on Mondays, helping our guests feel refreshed, confident, and cared for.

We need caring individuals who are willing to give a few hours of their time to help welcome guests, distribute supplies, assist with setup and cleanup, and offer a friendly smile and conversation.

Every act of service, no matter how small, can make a lasting impact in someone's life. By volunteering, you become part of a ministry that brings hope, compassion, and practical support to our community.

If you have a heart for serving others and would like to join us, we would love to hear from you.

Yesterday, Pastor Willie shared a few stories from our laundry ministry at West Olive Church that remind us why this mission matters so much.

One story was about an elderly couple who faithfully come to the laundromat every Saturday morning. Both live on Social Security, but after paying for a motel room, transportation, insurance, and life's basic necessities, there simply isn't enough left to afford a home of their own. Yet they show up each week with gratitude, dignity, and a smile.

Another story was about a single mother with three children who are currently living in their vehicle. She worries constantly that her children will be embarrassed at school because their clothes are dirty, and she fears that if others discover their situation, her family could be torn apart. Something as simple as clean clothes gives her children confidence and gives her one less burden to carry.

And then there was Luke. Pastor shared how difficult this past Saturday felt when Luke wasn't there. After faithfully helping him wash his clothes week after week, his absence was a reminder that every person who walks through those doors matters.

These stories are only a glimpse of the many lives touched through your generosity. Most of the people we help remain unseen by the rest of us, but God sees every one of them.

We are also reminded of a precious 91-year-old woman who regularly brings in the quarters she has collected. Living on a limited income herself, she apologizes that she cannot give more. Yet with a joyful smile she says, "I hope this helps at least one person or family." Her gift may seem small in the world's eyes, but God has always used small offerings to do extraordinary things.

Every quarter you donate becomes more than laundry money. It becomes dignity for a struggling family, encouragement for a weary heart, and a tangible reminder of God's love.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus. What may seem like spare change to us can become hope for someone who desperately needs it.

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

Lifeline Ministries office will be closed Monday, May 25, as we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Our laundry ministry will still be available at 2 PM on 16th Street, and we’ll be serving meals at Kollen Park at 4 PM as we come together in remembrance and community.

If you’d like to donate coins for the laundry ministry, Pastor will be at the 16th Street laundromat collecting donations. Every coin helps us serve those in need.

It’s been a while since we’ve shared a story from someone who believed they had reached their last resort. First, thank you to everyone who continues to support the families and individuals in our community. Because of your generosity, many have found hope in moments of crisis.

Recently, we received an after-hours call from an elderly woman in her 70s whose power was about to be shut off the next morning. She depends on electricity to run medical equipment in her home and was terrified. Through God’s timing and the kindness of a BPW staff member, she was connected to Lifeline Ministries.

The next morning, Pastor and I sat down with her to hear her story. She shared about a lifetime of hardship, growing up in abuse, caring for loved ones battling mental illness, and recently suffering a severe concussion that left her struggling physically and financially. Living on only $900 a month, she had already given her last $100 just to keep her power on a little longer.

She told us she loved Jesus and believed the Holy Spirit led her to Lifeline Ministries.

Because of your support, we were able to pay what she owed, provide food, and most importantly, remind her she was not alone.

Why share this story? Because there are real people in our community silently carrying burdens, often feeling like they have nowhere left to turn. Thank you for helping us be a last resort that points people back to hope, peace, and the love of God when they need it most.

Every Thursday, Lifeline Ministries provides Laundry Thursday to help bring dignity, hope, and comfort to those we serve. Something as simple as clean clothes can make such a difference in someone’s life — helping restore confidence, encouragement, and a sense of care during difficult times.

We are currently in need of coin donations to help keep this ministry going. Every roll of quarters, every handful of coins, and every gift truly matters.

You can drop off donations today at the Lifeline Ministries office between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

If you’re unable to stop by, there are other ways to give here:
Venmo, Paypal, CashApp or at www.lifelineministriesmi.org/donate

Thank you for loving your neighbors and helping us continue serving our community one load of laundry at a time.

Meet Justin, a hardworking single dad, and his daughter.

After completing a 120-day housing program, they were unable to secure permanent housing before the program ended on May 13. While waiting on a priority housing list, they are currently relying on temporary shelter and the kindness of others to get by.

Thanks to the compassion of a local church, they have a hotel room for one week — but after that, they have nowhere to go.

Justin recently started a new job and is working hard to rebuild their lives, but he will not receive his first paycheck for another two weeks. We are asking our community to help bridge that gap by providing one more week of shelter for this father and daughter.

If you would like to help, donate, or learn more, please contact Lifeline Ministries.

Every share, prayer, and contribution can be a lifeline for this family.

Esther is doing everything she can to hold her family together. Right now, she and her 3 children are facing homelessness, sleeping in their vehicle whenever they run out of money for a hotel room.

When Esther moved here in March 2025, she believed her family was finally getting a fresh start. She had an apartment lined up and hope for a stable future. But when they arrived, everything fell apart. The housing arrangement collapsed, and after only one week staying with a friend, they had nowhere else to go.

Since then, Esther has been fighting every single day to protect her children. As a single mother carrying the role of both mom and dad, she can only work part time so she can be there for school pickups, appointments, and the daily needs of her kids. She has already been told that once she has stable housing, a full-time job opportunity is waiting for her. Childcare would then become possible, and this family could finally begin rebuilding their lives.

We met Esther during Tulip Time, just days before she and her children were about to be put out of the hotel they had been surviving in since the end of March. Because of your kindness, we were able to extend their stay for one more week and connect her with resources through Family Promise’s Master Leasing Program. Esther did everything asked of her, followed through, and has now been placed on a waiting list for housing and case management support.

At this time, we respectfully ask that people please do not suggest the Women’s Shelter. Esther and her children stayed there from September through March of this year and were asked to leave, which is why they are currently without stable shelter. We are now simply trying to help them get through this difficult season safely and with dignity.

Right now, while they wait for housing to open up, they still have nowhere safe to go.

This is where we are asking our community to step in. We are trying to place Esther and her children in a hotel for the next 30 days so they can have safety, stability, and peace of mind while permanent housing is secured. A safe room means her children can sleep in beds instead of a car. It means Esther can focus on getting to work and caring for her kids without fearing where they will sleep each night.

We need to raise $1,676.98 — just $55.89 a day — to keep this family safe before the weekend arrives.

No donation is too small. Every dollar brings Esther and her children closer to stability, safety, and hope.

If you feel led to help, donations can be made through Venmo: Lifeline-Ministries-1, PayPal: [email protected], Cash App: $lifelineministriesmi, or online www.lifelineministriesmi/donate.org Please note your donation is for “Esther and her 3 kids.”

Thank you for helping us remind this family they are not alone.
