We are pleased to report the rescue, rehabilitation, and repatriation of 20 young people trafficked from Burkina Faso. Traffickers lured them online by promising well-paid jobs in Ghana. ENA and the EOCO Anti-Human Trafficking Unit acted to rescue them, and ENA provided safe accommodations and counselling at our House of Hope Transitional Shelter. They are all now safely home.

Thank you to all our partners who make it possible for us to stage rescues and provide support to victims.

Congratulations to the 50 women who graduated from our income-generating activity (IGA) program in Ethiopia, which trains women to create a business plan, gain practical skills to provide in-demand products, manage the business's finances, and market themselves. These incredible women in Liben Woreda are now empowered to support themselves, their families, and drive local economic growth. We can't wait to see their businesses thrive and spark positive change.

This World Humanitarian Day, we spotlight ENA's efforts to combat severe and acute child malnourishment.

The Kindia Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Bo, Sierra Leone, the first location to implement this program, conducts regular nutrition class sessions for mothers of malnourished children. During each session, the nutrition team measures the Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC), weight, and height of every child to assess their nutritional status and monitor progress. After the assessments, the mothers are divided into small groups for a rotating health education session. The nutrition team provides practical lessons on preparing nutritious foods using locally available ingredients, family strengthening, proper child feeding practices, and the importance of good hygiene and sanitation in preventing malnutrition. At the end of each session, therapeutic and supplementary food is distributed to the malnourished children to support their recovery and improve their nutritional health.

We are grateful to our partners and donors who helped build this clinic and fund this malnutrition program and are helping us expand the program in Ghana and Ethiopia.

Engage Now Africa, in partnership with Ensign Global University, hosted over 3,000 students at Suhum Technical Secondary School (SUTESCO) for a seminar themed "Protecting Our Children; Ending Human Trafficking in Ghana." Experts from law enforcement, government institutions, academia, healthcare, and civil society came together to educate, equip, and empower young people to recognize, resist, and report human trafficking.

Digital safety is now an essential part of protecting our children. As technology continues to evolve, traffickers and cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting digital platforms to target children and young people. Fake job advertisements, fraudulent scholarship offers, online recruitment schemes, romance scams, gaming platforms, and deceptive social media messages are becoming common tools used to lure victims into exploitation. During the seminar, students were encouraged to think critically before trusting online opportunities, protect their personal information, verify offers through trusted sources, and report suspicious online activities.

When we educate our youth, we protect their future. Together, we can build safer communities where every child can live free from exploitation.

The maternal health center projects in Volo and Fodzoku, Ghana, are nearing completion. Cecilia Amankwah, ENA's Ghana Country Director, visited to inspect the progress of work and engage with members of the communities. She met with the health staff, who expressed their gratitude for the project and the positive impact the new facility will have on healthcare delivery in the community. She also spent time with expectant mothers, encouraging them and assuring them that the new maternal health center will help ease some of the challenges they currently face and provide a safer, more conducive environment for maternal care. Fully funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the projects will replace the existing inadequate facilities and improve access to quality maternal and child healthcare.

"ECD training taught me how to prepare children to be the future generation of our country." --Sara Ababa, MCH Department, Abu Sera Health Center

Sara Ababa, who specializes in child vaccination in the MCH department at Abu Sera Health Center, was one of the health professionals who took part in ENA's Early Childhood Development and malnutrition training program. The training combined classroom learning with hands-on practice. Sara and other health care workers learned how to care for children, spot warning signs of malnutrition and illness, provide proper treatment, and prepare them to be the future of their communities.

We are proud to support health workers like her who are shaping the next generation. We also extend our gratitude to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for making this training possible through their generous support.

Afasi Komla, Director of EMS (End Modern Slavery) at Engage Now Africa, was invited to the United Nations to participate in a roundtable discussion on strengthening victim-centered protection in human trafficking cases.

"I am honored to have been nominated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through the African Survivor Coalition, to participate in a roundtable discussion with continental and international leaders, alongside other key stakeholders, on strengthening victim-centered protection in human trafficking cases within criminal justice procedures across Africa. During the forum, I had the opportunity to share our best intervention practices and highlight how the ENA House of Hope has supported victim protection while contributing to criminal justice processes in Ghana. The key takeaway was that true justice in human trafficking cases can only be achieved when criminal justice systems move beyond viewing survivors solely as witnesses and instead recognize them as equal, active partners in designing and implementing anti-trafficking solutions.

My sincere appreciation goes to the African Union Commission (AU-COC), UNODC, the European Union, and the African Survivor Coalition for creating opportunities for individuals with lived experience to contribute meaningfully to continental policy discussions and advance victim-centred responses to human trafficking. I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to Engage Now Africa for its unwavering commitment to combating human trafficking and for supporting my participation in this important forum.

Together, we are building an Africa where survivors are not only protected but are recognized as valued partners in shaping lasting solutions."
