The Holdrege Veterans' Memorial has become a focal point in Holdrege attracting attention and praise since its dedication in 2021 by Governor Ricketts.

Led by a volunteer committee with support from the City of Holdrege, there are more improvements in store. With your donation through Give 2 Grow, the next phase of development will begin immediately.

Each military branch will receive recognition with a bronze plaque depicting its history, complimented by a lighted service flag. The granite pedestals and plaques will be arrayed in an arc behind the black granite tablets.

Planning has also begun on interactive exhibits throughout Veterans' Memorial Park that will constitute Phase IV. Stay tuned.

Phase 3 planning is underway. Plans include adding flags and plaques for each of the six active duty military branches: Marines, Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard and Space Force.

We extend a sincere THANK YOU to donors and the dedicated committee members that have supported creation of the Holdrege Veterans Memorial.

On December 7th, remembering that almost a year ago, I was honored to tour the Pearl Harbor Memorial guided by Marine COL John R Bates, retired.

John has played a large role in development (his name on the plaque) at Pearl Harbor so it is a deeply important memory for me.

On my way to Okinawa in '68, our crew made a brief stopover at Base Operations (pictured) on Hickam AFB, which has been converted to a VIP terminal now.

I'm looking forward to a return trip later this month where Sean and I will introduce Westley, his stepson, to the memorial, again with John conducting the tour. Westley is passionate about history and I'm sure he'll come away with vivid memories like I did.

The Holdrege Veterans' Memorial will see more improvements with support from the community through Give2Grow.

Each of the six military service branches will have a pedestal with plaque that provides a brief history. Each pedestal will feature a lighted flag of that branch of the service.

Your donation will help fund this important next step to establish a lasting memorial to area veterans that helped defend our freedom and way of life.

Please support the Holdrege Veterans' Memorial during Give2Grow.
