The Husker Athletic Booster Club, a non-profit charitable organization, was founded in 1982 by a group of parents for the purpose of supporting for their sons and daughters in athletic programs at Holdingford, Minnesota schools. The organization thereafter began to have fund raising events to provide financial support to all athletic programs of the school. Initial financial support was approximat
ely $500 for the several years of the organization. In 1993, through non-profit charitable gambling, the organization increased its annual financial contribution to all athletic programs. Today, the organization is able to provide an average of $75,000 or more annually to support athletic programs for the area youth and school athletes. At Holdingford Minnesota schools, the Husker Athletic Booster Club is the only booster club established to assist all the athletic programs administered by the school. The mission of the Husker Athletic Booster Club was clearly stated upon its incorporation in January 1982, stating therein: “The purpose of this corporation is to promote athletic interest in Holdingford, Minnesota area schools”. It is the goal of the organization to enhance athletic programs in Holdingford, Minnesota area schools. It is the desire of the organization to provide the area youth and athletes with the necessary equipment and facilities to allow them to compete to the best of their ability. Through this concept, it provides the area youth and athletes with the ability to make proper choices in academics, athletics and after school involvement. Today, without programs at Holdingford, Minnesota schools, students may make undesirable social choices, including drugs, misconduct and other non-traditional issues. The Husker Athletic Booster Club currently provides support for all the athletic programs in Holdingford, Minnesota area schools. This includes football, volleyball, swimming, girls basketball, boys basketball, wrestling, girls fast pitch softball, boys baseball, track and field, cheerleading, trap and fishing. Activities and accomplishments of the organization are many. The organization has provided funding for the following:
• Football field bleacher renovation project.
• Baseball/Softball field maintenance equipment.
• Basketball training equipment
• Purchase of new wrestling mats and wall pads.
• Electronic timing system for swimming.
• Volleyball dual court system.
• Renovation of High School Gym concession stand.
• Volleyball training equipment.
• High School gym renovation project.
• Renovation of the Track and Field.
• Renovation of Weight Room and equipment.
• Renovation of Baseball/Softball Fields. In addition to the above major projects, the HABC has also provided funding in many other areas such as weight room equipment, baseball/softball bats, athletic fees for less fortunate athletes unable to pay such fees, elementary athletic programs, summer youth recreation programs, and much more.
