Animal Wonders

Animal Wonders Our programs and activities are fun, educational, interactive, age-appropriate, and customized for children and adults. NO MAMMALS are used in our programs.

Animal Wonders (http://www.animalwonders.net) offers conservation, ecology, and animal educational programs to enhance appreciation and understanding of the natural world. We create and bring our programs to your school for in-class workshops, after-school programs, as well as pre-schools/daycares, scouts, 4-H, FFA, summer camps, youth groups, senior living centers, scouting events, community even

ts, library events, birthday parties, corporate functions, benefits, or any special outing in Missouri or Kansas. We feel that it is important that the students get to see the animals in person during our programs. All of our animals are safe when handled by our educators, most of which have been employed & trained by AZA accredited institutions. The species that will be presented will be customized to the program selected. We have a variety of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates that will enhance the program. Animal Wonders DOES NOT condone private ownership nor would expose any children to primates, wild canids, and wild felids. Having many years experience with these species in the zoo world, they have no place in area where children are present. I am parent myself and I wouldn't allow my son to attend an event where these types of animals are present, outside of an AZA approved enclosure. WE ARE NOT THE COMPANY THAT TAKES ORDERS FOR OR SELLS BABY EXOTIC ANIMALS!!! Our animals are for educational purposes; they are not circus acts, a petting zoo, or performers.

Happy World Environment Day from AAZK and our Conservation Partner, SaveNature.org! SaveNature.org works to educate people about biodiversity and protect ecosystems through fundraising and conservation partnerships. Check out their “Adopt an Acre” or “Adopt a Reef” programs, where members of the public have a direct way to support conservation through symbolically adopting land in a conservation area. They also offer educational opportunities for school children through programs like their “Insect Discovery Lab”. See how you can help by checking out their website!

REMINDER - We DO NOT take in, rescue, or work with CATS or DOGS. Apparently the big money pet rescues in our area took Memorial Day weekend off as the phone has been going non stop since Friday, today has been the worst and it's only noon...

Again, please. I cannot help with cats and dogs. We do not have the licenses, facilities, funding, equipment, or time for cats and dogs.

I missed posting these on World Turtle Day, so here some wild friends I've encountered recently.

Brown-headed Nuthatch Translocation Program Update
The Brown-headed Nuthatch translocation program began in 2020 with 46 birds caught in Arkansas, released in restored pine woodlands in Missouri’s Mark Twain National Forest in Carter Co.
State Ornithologist Kristen Heath-Acre reports that as of mid-April, a record 8 nests have been found this spring, and one already has hatchlings.
Survival estimates from the last two years’ data look promising. Last year, all nests that were found fledged. Fingers are crossed for another productive spring!
