Wachusett Greenways helps connect people to the outdoors and to each other by building and helping to maintain trails, including the Mass Central Rail Trail (MCRT), and by leading free trail and other events year round. Members, volunteers, the Wachusett communities and the Commonwealth, in particular the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), are vital partners.

The Mass Central Rail Trail – Wachusett Greenways section through Rutland, Oakham and Barre is highlighted in the 2026 Mass Trails 10 featuring wonderful trails https://www.masstrails10.org/ .

You are invited to join Wachusett Greenways for a bike ride or walk on this section of the MCRT. Please sign up at www.wachusettgreenways.org for Saturday, October 3, 1 p.m. or for Friday, October 16, 1 p.m. Bicyclists may ride one way 8.8 miles or round trip 17.6 miles. Pedestrians may choose the walk length they prefer.

The Mass Central Rail Trail is growing along the 104+ mile corridor between Northampton and Boston. Come enjoy this treasured trail with us!

Participation for each day is limited to 25.
