day #8 of is a “nocturnal migrant”! I chose the Orange-bellied Parrot which is one of only 3 species of parrot to migrate. They breed in south-west Tasmania in the summer and then migrate to south-eastern Australia for the rest of the year🧡

Orange-bellied Parrots are critically endangered and one of Australia’s most threatened bird species. This species is likely to be impacted by the planned Robbins Island wind farm in Tasmania which was just greenlighted by the Labor party. Experts say all birds in this population could be impacted.

day #7 of ! Today’s prompt was “Basic (non-breeding plumage)” so I chose to draw a male Superb Fairywren outside of breeding season.

In late February, all males lose their breeding plumage except for the dominant male. Then in early August, they will start to regain their beautiful blue plumage again💙

day #6 “Coniferous Forest” is the green rosella!💚 I was lucky enough to spot one of these guys in Tasmania on a recent trip. They are one of 12 endemic species in Tasmania!

took a little break to focus on PhD things but I’m back for the annual tradition! For every day in October, I’ll be drawing a bird based on prompts from !🦜

This is technically the day 4 bird (“Spotted”) but it’s been my favorite drawing so far!☺️ So here is a Spotted Pardalote from Australia. I haven’t seen one yet but it’s definitely on my list.

had the pleasure of seeing a Goniobranchus roboi nudibranch in Western Australia last year👀 Definitely one of the coolest sea slugs I’ve seen!
