Every registered beekeeper plays an important role in protecting our honey bee population!🐝 Alabama’s No Comb Law is one of the most important safeguards for the state’s honey bee industry. This law makes it unlawful to import honey bees on comb including established colonies or nucleus colonies (Nucs) into Alabama. Due to the increase in purchasing nucs, we want beekeepers to stay vigilant of this rule.

If you have questions about importing bees or want to schedule an inspection, contact your regional state apiary inspector. For information visit, https://agi.alabama.gov/plantprotection/apiary-protection-unit/

You made a choice—a different one than others.
That doesn’t make you a black sheep.

It makes you a thinker.
A “Let me see how this feels in my heart” kind of person.

You paused where others rushed.
You asked questions when silence would’ve been easier.

That’s not rebellion.
That’s discernment.

You don’t have to follow the crowd just because it’s moving.
You don’t have to agree just to keep the peace.

There’s wisdom in listening.
There’s courage in waiting.
There’s beauty in choosing with care.

You’re not too much.
You’re not difficult.

You’re staying true to your heart.
Maybe you’re not a sheep at all.

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) recently received reports of “unsolicited” seeds being delivered to residents across the state through the United States Postal Service (USPS). The seeds reported were identified as tomato and onion seeds and tested negative for harmful compounds.

We are asking recipients of “unsolicited seeds” to NOT plant the them and if they are in a sealed package, do not open the sealed package.

Mystery seed packages have once again found their way into some Alabama mailboxes. These seeds could cause great harm to the environment.

I just introduced the Honey Integrity Act to crack down on the mislabeling and sale of fake honey to American consumers. This bill sets clear standards to ensure families know the honey they’re buying is real honey.

I appreciate Senator Tommy Tuberville for leading this effort in the Senate and Congressman Jimmy Panetta for his support in the House.

We must protect American honey producers and ensure consumers get the quality products they pay for.
