☄️💙 HI, I’M COMET! AND I’M HOPING MY SECOND CHANCE LEADS ME STRAIGHT TO YOU! 🥹🐾

Hey guys! 👋 My name is Comet, and I’m the newest handsome face here at Horse Plus PAWS!

You might be wondering how a good-looking guy like me, with one icy blue eye, one beautiful brown eye, and a smile like THIS, is still looking for a home. Well… your guess is as good as mine! 😅💙

You see, I actually came from another shelter. They tried really hard to find me a family, but for some reason, nobody ever chose me. 💔 So they decided to give me another chance somewhere new, and that’s how I ended up here!

I’m really hoping this is where my story changes. ❤️

Now, let me tell you a little about myself!

🐾 I’m 3 years old, weigh 34 pounds, and they say I’m an Australian Shepherd mix! Whatever I am, I think we can all agree I’m pretty darn handsome. 😎

💙 I’m a happy, energetic boy who LOVES to play and have fun! But don’t worry, I’ve got a laid-back side too. I can enjoy some downtime just as much as my adventures!

🥹 I LOVE HUGS! Seriously, if you’re looking for a dog who wants your love and attention, I’m your guy!

💦 I also really enjoy playing in my water. The humans keep putting it in my bowl to drink, but nobody told me I couldn’t have a little fun with it too! 😂

🐶 I can get along with other dogs, but I’m a little picky about who I call my friends. I just need someone willing to introduce us slowly and properly so we can get to know each other!

🏡 The humans think I’ve been potty trained and crate trained before because I’ve been doing a pretty good job keeping my space clean unless I absolutely can’t hold it anymore!

🦴 Oh, and I know how to SIT! But between you and me… I prefer to be paid for my hard work. Show me a treat, and suddenly I’m a much better listener. 🤣

I’m also already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccinations! So I’ve got all that important stuff taken care of!

The humans here are still learning about me, and I’m still learning about them. But one thing they’ve already figured out is that I’ve got a whole lot of love to give. ❤️

I don’t know why I wasn’t chosen before. Maybe the right person just never saw me. Maybe my family is somewhere out there scrolling through Facebook right now, not even knowing I’m waiting for them.

But I’m trying not to give up hope. 🥺

I’ve already waited at one shelter for someone to choose me. I’m really hoping I won’t have to wait too long at another.

I promise I’m worth getting to know. All I’m asking for is a chance to show you. 💙

🚨 STRAY HOLD — MEET DIESEL! 🐾🖤

This handsome boy was brought to us today by Animal Control, and we’re hoping someone out there recognizes him!

We’ve decided to call him Diesel, and we believe he’s a Black Lab mix. Diesel has a beautiful, mostly black coat with a distinctive white patch on his chest and little touches of white on his toes! He has a big, blocky head, floppy ears, a sturdy build, and those sweet, soulful eyes that are hard to forget. 🥹

Unfortunately, Diesel appears to have possibly been hit by a vehicle and is in pretty rough shape. 💔 We don’t know exactly what happened to him or how long he’s been on his own, but this poor boy has clearly been through a lot.

Diesel is an intact male (not neutered) and does NOT have a microchip, making it even harder for us to track down where he belongs.

Despite the condition he arrived in, we’re holding out hope that someone out there knows this boy and can help us piece together his story.

🐾 Diesel is currently on a stray hold while we work to locate his rightful owner.

💔 Hi everyone… it’s me, Duck. I’m back. Again. 💔

I really thought I had found my forever home this time. 🥺

Just a couple of weeks ago, I got to walk out of these kennel doors with a family of my very own. Everyone at the shelter was SO happy for me. They hugged me goodbye, told me to be a good boy, and sent me off to start my new life.

But today… they had to welcome me back. 💔

I don’t understand what happened. I thought I was home. I thought I was finally someone’s dog.

I’m only 8 months old. I’m still just a baby, and I have SO much left to learn.

My family said I was a good boy, but today something happened. I tried to run out the door, and when someone grabbed my collar to stop me, I got scared and reacted by biting. The injury appeared relatively minor in the photo they shared, but my friends at the shelter know that any bite is serious.

They also know that I’ve NEVER shown biting behavior during my time with them. They know me as the happy, goofy, loving boy who just wants to play, get belly rubs, and be somebody’s best friend.

I know I’m not perfect. I get excited. I have lots of energy. Sometimes I need someone to remind me of my manners.

But does that mean I don’t deserve a home? 🥺

I’m just a puppy. I need someone to TEACH me, not give up on me when I make a mistake.

And now, here I am again.

Back to the barking. Back to watching people walk past my kennel. Back to wondering if someone will ever choose me and actually mean FOREVER.

The people here love me so much, but I hear them talking about how full the shelter is. How more animals need help. How they’re running out of room.

And now I’m taking up a kennel that another dog desperately needs. 💔

I don’t want to be another dog who grows up behind these doors.

I don’t want to spend the rest of my puppyhood waiting for someone to notice me.

I WANT TO GO HOME. AND THIS TIME, I WANT TO STAY. 😭❤️

I’m potty trained, I know how to sit, and I LOVE people, treats, and toys! I have so much personality and even MORE love to give.

I just need someone patient. Someone who understands I’m still learning. Someone who won’t expect perfection from a puppy who hasn’t even celebrated his first birthday.

🚨 PLEASE, I’M BEGGING YOU… DON’T LET ME BE FORGOTTEN HERE. 🚨

My shelter is overflowing, and my friends are doing everything they can to find me a safe, loving home as quickly as possible. They’ll make sure my next family understands everything about me, including what happened in my last home.

I don’t need another person to take me home for a couple of weeks. I need someone who is going to love me for the rest of my LIFE.

If you can’t adopt me, could you PLEASE share my story? Maybe someone out there is looking for a boy just like me.

I’m only 8 months old. I have my WHOLE life ahead of me.

Please don’t make me spend it waiting behind kennel doors. 💔

🐾❤️ Not every happy ending happens through adoption… sometimes, it happens through RESCUE! ❤️🐾

Did you know that along with finding forever homes through adoption, we also work closely with some INCREDIBLE rescue organizations to help our animals find their next chapter? 🐶🐱

Just last week, Shiloh, Aspen, and our sweet kitty Benny were all transferred into the care of wonderful rescues! 🥹❤️ Some are already enjoying the comforts of loving foster homes while they wait for their forever families, and all three are now on exciting new journeys toward the lives they deserve!

📸 Pictured is our sweet Shiloh, riding in the back seat of Jayden’s truck on her way to rescue! ❤️ This is just one of the many behind-the-scenes moments that go into giving our animals a second chance. Sometimes finding their happy ending means loading up, hitting the road, and working together to get them where they need to be!

We also want to take this opportunity to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the incredible rescues we have the privilege of working with! 🫶

As an open-admission shelter, we never know what each day will bring or how many animals will come through our doors. Our rescue partners are such an important part of our mission, helping us create more opportunities for the animals in our care while allowing us to continue helping those who need us next.

From welcoming animals into their programs to coordinating placements, opening foster homes, and working alongside us to find the best possible outcome for each animal, your kindness and dedication do NOT go unnoticed! ❤️

It truly takes a village, and we are beyond grateful for every rescue, foster, volunteer, and supporter who plays a part in making these second chances possible.

We may be separate organizations, but we’re all working toward the same goal: giving every animal the chance at a happy, healthy, and LOVED life. 🐾❤️

❤️🐾OUR VOLUNTEER IS THE BEST!🐾❤️

We have a HUGE shoutout to one of our amazing volunteers who truly always shows up and SHOWS OUT!👏🏼

Today, she helped us tackle a BIG project— laying rock around our dog kennels to help with the mud build up from cleaning them every single day. And let us tell you… she did an AMAZING job!🙌🏼

It may seem like a simple project, but improvements like this make such a difference in keeping our kennel area cleaner, safer, and more manageable for both our staff and our dogs. 🐶 ❤️

We are so incredibly grateful for her willingness to jump in, get her hands dirty, and help wherever she is needed. She continuously gives her time and energy to our shelter and our animals, and we truly could not appreciate her more.

Thank you for always showing up, working hard, and loving our animals right alongside us. People like you make such a difference at Horse Plus PAWS, and we are SO lucky to have you!❤️🐾
