The Ieweras Gray Foundation

The Ieweras Gray Foundation cancer .And stand up for onkwehonwe rights Ieweras Gray was a young, Wolf Clan woman from the Mohawk Territory of Akwesasne.

She was diagnosed with Leukemia at 5 ½ years old. She spent the next years of her childhood in and out of hospitals getting treatment until her cancer went into remission at 8 years old. The cancer came back when she was 10 ½ years old. She spent the rest of her life battling cancer until she passed away into the Spirit World at 16 years old. Ieweras inspired everyone who met her, with her bravery

and strong fighting spirit and a wisdom that was beyond her years. She believed that the Creator chose her as a child to fight this battle for a greater purpose. When she was born Lightning struck the Hospital and she was given the name Ieweras, which means the Women Thunder and lighting Being in Mohawk. Even as she battled cancer, she remained positive & optimistic. She spoke about peace & unity and keeping her culture alive. The Ieweras Gray Foundation and the women warrior flag was created after her passing to honor Ieweras and keep her memory alive. The Foundation will help families with a child battling cancer. There are many unseen expenses such as traveling, lodging, food and medical costs that take a toll on the families on top of their child fighting against cancer. The Woman Warrior Flag represents the Strength, Beauty & Warrior Spirit of the Woman. May the Vision of a Positive, Peaceful, United & Cancer-Free World become a Reality.
