The Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment is hosting part 2 of a youth wellness 2-part series to help young people in our community build the skills to lead healthy, informed, and empowered lives.

The next event in the series is Boys’ Day In! We invite boys, ages 13 to 20, to join a day of connection and wellness on June 6, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Seven Dancers Coalition (1569 State Route 37, Akwesasne)

Join us for a traditional food demonstration, cultural and wellness presentations, connection to the Medicine game, and Social Singing. Boost your confidence and learn about topics like healthy relationships, self-care, respect, and a healthy lifestyle.

Each participant will receive a wellness bag with items that promote self-care. Each participant who attends will also be entered to win one of the following door prizes:
Apple iPad
Heart to Heart Fitness Certificate (3-month membership)
Fishing rod and tackle box
And other great prizes

Refreshments will be provided and lunch will be served (catered by Jonathan Lazore).
Transportation is available upon request.

Tomorrow is Prescription Take Back Day, which means it is time to clean up your medicine cabinet of unneeded prescription medications.

When: April 25, 10am-2pm

Where: SRMT Police Station, Akwesasne Mohawk Police Station, Kawehno:ke Service Road across from Peace Tree Mall, Snye Recreation Center

What to drop off: tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage. Keep all medicines in their original container.
*Vapes will also be collected for proper disposal

*DO NOT drop off: syringes, sharps, needles, or illicit drugs.

*Narcan Training Locations: Tribal Police Station, Snye Rec Center and Kawehno:ke Service Road

The Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment is hosting a youth wellness 2-part series to help young people in our community build the skills to lead healthy, informed, and empowered lives.

The first event in the series is Girl's Night In!
We invite girls, ages 13 to 20, to join this evening of connection and wellness on April 30, 2026 from 4:30 to 9:00 P.M. at Snye Recreation Center.

Join us to make your own seed rattle and learn seed songs, try Jiu Jitsu to boost your confidence and learn about topics like self-esteem, healthy relationships and overcoming peer pressure.

Each participant will receive a wellness bag with items that promote self-care. Each girl who attends will also be entered to win one of the following door prizes:
Apple iPad
Heart to Heart Fitness Certificate (3-month membership)
Hair Care Basket ($200 value)
Sewing Machine & Ribbon Skirt Kit

Refreshments will be provided and dinner will be served (Tacos catered by J Beans). Transportation is available upon request.

As Spring arrives, it’s the perfect time to tidy up your medicine cabinet!

Prescription Take Back Day is Saturday, April 25th from 10am to 2pm at the following locations: SRMT Police Station, Akwesasne Mohawk Police Station, Kawehno:ke Service Road across from Peace Tree Mall, Snye Recreation Center.

If you have medications that you no longer need, haven’t used, or that have expired, bring them to a nearby collection site for safe and proper disposal. Vapes will also be accepted.

The collection sites will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage. All medications should remain sealed in their original container.
*Collection sites will NOT accept syringes, sharps, needles, or illicit drugs.

Free Narcan training will take place at the Tribal Police Station, Snye Recreation Center and Kawehno:ke Service Road.

The Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment hosted its second Comic Con event on March 7, 2026. The event featured a costume contest, a collector’s market, free activities and photo ops, PowerPlay gaming trailer, Mario Kart, Lena the Lizard Lady and her amazing animals! We would like to express our gratitude for our Coalition members that helped plan Comic Con and brought this vision to life! Shout out to all of the vendors who brought their artwork and other unique goods to the collector’s market. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped throughout the day. Lastly, niawen:kówa to all of the community members who came to Comic Con. We truly appreciate seeing everyone have fun and make memories together! We look forward to the next Comic Con.
