HOTT Productions, NFP is an Illinois not-for-profit company (501c3) created solely for the purpose of Helping Others Through Theatre. HOTT Productions, NFP is proud to be the only community theater staffed fully by volunteers and founded with the mission of donating proceeds to charitable organizations. Together with
a team of family and friends, all volunteers, HOTT has donated over $125,000 to c
harity. The audition-only, volunteer cast, in which multiple members of families are involved, invests months of effort to provide an enjoyable, quality musical theatrical production the whole family can enjoy. HOTT has produced a variety of family-friendly shows at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts and has historically donated its proceeds to the Evenstart Family Literacy Program and the Prevention Initiative Program in Schaumburg Township. These programs provide services that target families that live in isolated pockets of poverty in the midst of middle class suburbs. The goals of the programs focus on: the acquisition of language, literacy, health, safety and emotional well-being; through intensive services, one family at a time. HOTT has also performed or participated in The Cancer Society Walk and Roll, The Multiple Sclerosis Walk-a-thon, Aids Walks, numerous Relay for Life events, and the Run to Read through District 54. Proceeds from HOTT have also provided funds for transportation during the holiday season to Walmart for children participating in the Prevention Initiative Program. In addition, one performance of each show is done for special invitation-only audiences that might not ordinarily have the opportunity to attend a live musical theater event. Audience members include clients from Little City, Ray Graham, and Clearbrook; families from the Prevention Initiative Program
and families with children with autism spectrum disorders. The proceeds from recent shows were utilized to fulfill the goal of bringing quality, sensory and developmentally appropriate arts experiences to individuals with autism spectrum disorders. HOTT is proud to have sponsored 5 performances of The Red Kite Project at Chicago Children’s Theatre. The Red Kite Project at Chicago Children’s Theatre creates multi-sensory, interactive theatre programming tailored specifically to the needs and interests of children on the autism spectrum. The challenges that individuals with ASD face make experiencing traditional theatre a distinct difficulty. Unlike more traditional theatre, Red Kite downplays the use of spoken language and emphasizes a series of sensory experiences rather than the progression of a plot.
