Call for Articles: Spring 2026 LRA DSICG Newsletter

The Literacy Research Association Doctoral Student Interest Community Group (DSICG) is now accepting submissions for the Spring 2026 Newsletter. This issue is an opportunity for emerging literacy scholars to share ideas, experiences, and works in progress with fellow doctoral students who understand the joys and challenges of this journey.

Article Types

Book Reviews (250–300 words)
We welcome brief reviews of books connected to literacy research, theory, or doctoral life. Consider highlighting key takeaways, how the text informs your thinking or practice, and why other doctoral students might find it meaningful.

Reflection Pieces (500–750 words)
These pieces can be reflective, narrative, or analytical highlighting anything that speaks to the lived experience of being a doctoral student. That could include navigating research and writing, managing the highs and lows of doctoral life, building supportive peer networks, strategies for balance and well being, conference takeaways, or professional development insights.

Research Spotlights and Field Overviews (750–1000 words)
If you’re working on a study, exploring a new area of scholarship, or making sense of emerging ideas, we’d love to hear about it. These articles might include works in progress, surveys-of-the-field summaries, moments of discovery, challenges or successes in data collection or analysis, or connections to literacy across contexts, communities, or methodologies.

Collaborative Submissions: Co authored pieces are welcome! While we can’t match writers with partners, collaboration within your networks is a great way to explore shared experiences or intersecting research interests.

Submission Guidelines
• Length: 250–1000 words, depending on article type
• Format: APA 7th edition
• Audience: Doctoral students, literacy researchers, and the
broader LRA community
• Focus: All submissions should clearly connect to literacy
• Submission Portal: A Google Forms link will be provided
• Deadline for submissions: May 1, 2026
• Editing: Submissions may be lightly edited for clarity and
length
