Shoe Factory Road in Hoffman Estates will be closed between Beverly Rd. and Sutton Rd. starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15 for railroad track repairs. Officials at Canadian National Railway expect the repairs to be completed by 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Motorists will be directed to detour routes while the roadway is closed. The detour route uses Beverly Rd. on the west, Higgins Rd. (Rte. 72) on the north and Sutton Rd. (Rte. 59) on the east. Visit the Village's website for the full detour route.

Several services will be affected this week due to the Memorial Day holiday observance.

🗑️ Garbage and recycling pickup will be on the delayed holiday schedule this week, with service delayed by one day.

♻️ SWANCC will not hold its electronics recycling drop-off at the Public Works Fleet Services Garage on Monday, May 26. This service will resume on Monday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to noon.

🏛️ Village Hall will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

Over the next few months, the Illinois Tollway will be making upgrades to two ramps along I-90 as part of a planned improvement project:

– The exit ramp from westbound I-90 to Roselle Road (Plaza 12 Ramp A)
– The entrance ramp to westbound I-90 from Arlington Heights Road (Plaza 18 Ramp D)

During construction, each of these ramps will need to be closed for a short time. When that happens, drivers will be directed to detour routes. The work is expected to be completed sometime this fall.

Due to emergency repairs needed in the 90-inch transmission water main that supplies drinking water to Hoffman Estates and six other neighboring communities, Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency (NSMJAWA) is mobilizing their crews to make the repair to their transmission pipe. According NSMJAWA, work is expected to start Tuesday, April 1 and may take up to a week to complete.

Water taste and odor changes may become evident in Hoffman Estates over the next several days as the emergency repair work gets underway. During the leak repair work, the primary water supply to Hoffman Estates is scheduled to temporarily shift to a combination of Lake Michigan-sourced water through an interconnection with the Village of Palatine and municipal wells. Even with odor and taste changes, which may result from activating the emergency backup wells in the Village, the water supply in Hoffman Estates is safe to drink.

Unfortunately, once again some residents have fallen victim to vehicle burglaries. The vehicles were left unlocked when the items were taken.

This is a reminder to lock your car doors and close all windows, including the sunroof, whenever you exit the vehicle. Take all valuables out of the vehicle, such as purses, phones, and electronics, whenever possible. If you must leave valuables in your vehicle, leave them in the trunk or out of plain sight of the offenders. It is also highly recommended to not leave your garage door opener inside your vehicle if you are parking your vehicle outside.

If you see someone or something suspicious, please call 911. Typical behavior of offenders in cases such as these drive slowly through the neighborhood scoping out potential targets. They also will drive slowly while acting as the lookout and getaway driver for their accomplices.

Any residents with surveillance cameras and/or surveillance style doorbells are encouraged to review their footage to see if there is any information to provide the Hoffman Estates Police Department to identify the suspects.
