The vision of our organization is to act as a communication bridge between the western and eastern communities to uplift our culture and traditions. Our organization aims to preserve our

heritage, Urdu language, poetry (Adab), and customs. We aim to build a South Asian American Community that possesses shared values that bring together and uplift people of color. We want our community to not be defined by race, caste, gender, and religion but to abolish the system of oppression and move towards collective liberation. We believe that South Asians need to understand that collective liberation can only become a reality if our motto becomes that none of us is free until all of us are free. We want to prioritize the demands of marginalized groups and advocate against systemic racism and the damage it can do to the U.S. Diaspora. Mission
We want to bring our vision to life through local and national partnerships and strategic communications. We want our community to engage in political education so that they can work with us to promote useful strategies and narratives to bring our vision to life

Mr Bhatt had several run-ins with the BJP government in the past over the 2002 post-Godhra riots. The Indian Police Service officer had alleged that Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, was complicit in the riots of 2002.

Bhatt is a well-known critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and had filed an affidavit against the then-Gujarat CM in the Supreme Court in connection with the 2002 Godhra train-burning incident and the violence that followed. Bhatt had also accused the SC-appointed SIT to probe the Gujarat riots for “shielding Mr Modi and top-ranking police officials of Gujarat”.

The first lesson Younus wrote about was that masks work. Although he was around Covid-19 patients for over 1000 times in the last two years, he did not get infected because of PPE and masks. However, being exposed for two days at a mask-less family gathering made him susceptible to Omicron. “So yes. Masks work. Wear an N95 or KN95 if you can,” he wrote.

Biden’s biggest immigration proposal to date would allow more new immigrants into the U.S. while giving millions of unauthorized immigrants who are already in the country a pathway to legal status. The expansive legislation would create an eight-year path to citizenship for the nation’s estimated 10.5 million unauthorized immigrants, update the existing family-based immigration system, revise employment-based visa rules and increase the number of diversity visas.

By contrast, President Donald Trump’s administration sought to restrict legal immigration in a variety of ways, including through legislation that would have overhauled the nation’s legal immigration system by sharply reducing family-based immigration.

In Washington, national security advisor Jake Sullivan said American intelligence agencies have determined that Russia is “laying the groundwork to have the option of fabricating a pretext for an invasion – including through sabotage activities and information operations – by accusing Ukraine of preparing an imminent attack on Russian troops in Eastern Ukraine.”

“We saw this playbook in 2014, and they are preparing this playbook again,” Sullivan told reporters at the White House, adding that the United States is “ready either way.”

Carlo Buontempo, director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service, said in a statement that “2021 was yet another year of extreme temperatures with the hottest summer in Europe, heat waves in the Mediterranean, not to mention the unprecedented high temperatures in North America. The last seven years have been the seven warmest on record.

“These events are a stark reminder of the need to change our ways, take decisive and effective steps toward a sustainable society and work toward reducing net carbon emissions.”

Arwady says vaccination is still the best answer to beating the pandemic. Nevertheless, the mask distribution is a one-off as Chicago struggles with the omicron variant of the virus that causes COVID-19. Nationwide it is surging, but the peak may be in sight.

The city’s COVID dashboard shows that average daily cases may have peaked January 3 and hospitalizations might have done the same four days earlier. And, the test positivity rate, which has been skyrocketing, may have topped out on New Year’s Day.

Some 23 million people are in desperate need of food, the $20 billion economy could shrink by $4 billion or more and 97% of the 38 million population are at risk of sinking into poverty, Abdallah Al Dardari, the resident representative for the UNDP in Afghanistan, said Wednesday.

“Afghanistan is probably facing the worst humanitarian disaster we’ve ever seen,” Al Dardari told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia.”

The unemployment rate in December fell to a new post-pandemic low of 3.9%, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. But the economy added only 199,000 new jobs to nonfarm payrolls, less than half of what economists had predicted.

Biden framed the nationwide labor shortage as a reflection of more worker choice and mobility, not, as his critics allege, a year of overly generous government pandemic benefits that have sapped people’s need to work for a living.

In addition, the Secretary extended previously approved policies to waive the visa interview for certain students, professors, research scholars, short-term scholars, or specialists (F, M, and academic J visa applicants) through the end of 2022.

One change to the previous policy is that applicants eligible for the waiver authority, because they are citizens or nationals of a VWP participating country, must have previously traveled to the United States using an authorization obtained via ESTA to qualify. Applicants must apply for a visa in their country of nationality or residence.

The pop-ups are run by various companies, but many are similar: They set up in a parking lot or a storefront, don’t require appointments and offer rapid and PCR tests. People provide their ID and insurance information online and are swabbed or provided with a swab they administer themselves. They often have bare-bones websites and little public contact information. The pop-up storefronts often have folding tables and little furniture.

Confusion and disorganization at the pop-ups have become common during the holiday surge in cases and testing.

The unauthorized testing sites may have real signs, but according to federal authorities, they can be used to take personal details, including Social Security numbers and important health information.

During a COVID-19 briefing Monday, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced the state is cracking down on what he referred to “fly-by-night” testing sites, calling them an “enormous problem.”
