Remember Heidi and Harold aka, the spoon head twins?? They’re all grown up and they have shed their spoons!
Day 1/4 of our exams and vaccines is finished. The animals were all pretty well-behaved but the heat is relentlessly brutal so it was tough. We did 22 goats, 2 sheep, 1 cat, 1 alpaca, 8 llamas and 3 dogs. Dr. Jordan also examined and x-rayed Maggie and Gladys.
Remember how your child would miraculously start feeling better when you took them to the doctor after a sleepless night? That’s pretty much what happened with Maggie who looked much better by the time we got around to her this afternoon. We’ll keep her in a padded boot and on pain meds for a few more days at least but she’s looking so much better.
Unfortunately, we’re really struggling with Gladys. She just doesn’t feel good and we’re struggling to figure out why. We keep trying different things and doing more tests but she’s not herself and it’s making us all sad because she’s a favorite around here. A couple of days ago, we made the decision to let her have some freedom in the barn pasture after months of being cooped up in her stall/paddock and I think she likes that although it’s so dang hot, nobody is spending much time out there. We’re going to try some different pain meds with Gladys and get a second opinion (Dr. Jordan’s suggestion) to see if a fresh pair of eyes can see something we’re missing. I’ll keep you posted.
