👑 The Crown Has Been Passed.
Richard (and Ghost 🐾) showed up for this community with hammers, heart, and humor building homes and friendships in equal measure.

And now… he’s passing the crown. 👑
Meet Anthony Fuentez, newly appointed Executive Director of Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen.

Anthony didn’t arrive at this role from the outside looking in. He built his way to it from the inside out. Volunteer. Cook. Runner. Interim Executive Director. And nowwwww, Executive Director. Anthony has done it all at Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen, learning every single piece of this mission with his own two hands before ever stepping into the role of leading it.

And there’s something even more powerful behind his story: Anthony is following in his father’s footsteps, but he is not standing in his shadow. He is carving his own path, leading in his own way, and carrying forward a legacy of service that was instilled in him from the very beginning. He was raised to serve and to love, and it shows in absolutely everything he does.

Isaiah’s Soup Kitchen has been a place of comfort and dignity in Hobbs since 1992 by serving thousands of hot meals every month, providing food boxes, clothing, hygiene items, and emergency assistance for families facing house fires, disasters, and crisis. But what they really provide is so much bigger than food. They step into the gaps. They show up where no one else does. They are the hands and feet of this community, doing the work that often goes unseen.

And now Anthony carries that mission forward humbly, faithfully, and with a heart that was built for exactly this.

We could not be more proud of him. Leadership isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like washing dishes before you ever sit behind the desk, and never forgetting where you came from once you do.

Anthony Fuentez, the crown is yours. 👑

We have to give a huge shoutout to Legacy Safety & Consulting for something that might not be the first thing you think of when you think "donation," but trust us, it was a game changer the last two weekends.

Cooling trailers.

If you've spent any time in the Permian Basin heat, you know exactly why this matters. Legacy brought the kind of relief usually reserved for oilfield crews to our United We Play Pickleball Tournament and our TURFS Flag Football Tournament, and it made a real difference for our players, volunteers, and families out there competing and cheering in the heat.

It's the kind of creative, practical support that doesn't always make headlines but absolutely makes events possible. Thank you, Legacy Safety & Consulting, for thinking outside the box and showing up for our community in such a meaningful way.

This is what partnership looks like. 🙌

Y'all spend your days finding gaps and figuring out how to fill them for your students. Brainstorming resources. Showing up for kids in the moments that matter most. Doing more with less, again and again, because that's just who you are.

And then you turned around and gave your whole day to this tournament too. Volunteering your time so the Lea County Schools Crisis Fund can keep doing exactly what you've helped us build it to do, being there for students when there are gaps no one else can fill.

We see you. We see the work you do. And we are so grateful to have you in our corner, on the field and in the schools.

Thank you for being part of this. Lea County is better because of you 🙌

👑 The Crown Has Been Passed.

Courtney stepped into Teen Court of Lea County and immediately started transforming it, and showing up for young people with passion, purpose, and a belief that every kid deserves a second chance.

And now… she’s passing the crown. 👑 Meet Richard and Ghost 🥰 with Habitat for Humanity of Hobbs.

If you’ve spent any time in the Lea County nonprofit world, you already know Richard. He’s the one cheering you on from across the room. He’s the one popping up at your event making everyone feel like the most important person there. He brings joy, laughter, and warmth into every single space he walks into.

And right by his side? Ghost. His golden lab. Who, let’s be honest, gets just as much love as Richard does the moment they walk through the door. 🐾

Together, they are simply good for the soul. And behind all of that joy? Richard is quietly building something beautiful…literally.

Since 1989, Habitat for Humanity of Hobbs has built so many homes right here in our community, giving families not just a roof over their heads, but stability, dignity, and a foundation to build their lives on. Every home is built with donated materials, volunteer labor, and the sweat equity of the families themselves because Habitat doesn’t just hand someone a house. They build it together.

And Richard makes sure every single one of those homes is built with pride and integrity. Because these aren’t just houses. They are someone’s everything.

He shows up for this community the same way he shows up for every nonprofit in it fully, joyfully, and with his whole heart. Ghost in tow. 🐾

We are so grateful for Richard. And Ghost. Lea County is better, warmer, and funnier because they are in it. 😄

Leadership isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it looks like picking up a hammer, cheering on your neighbors, and building something that will outlast all of us, with a golden lab at your feet.

Richard, the crown is yours. 👑

We are not a sports league. 🏈 We are not a tournament organization. 🙌🏼 We are United Way of Lea County, and we show up wherever hope is needed. 💛

These faces right here? This is part of your United Way team. And today we were on a flag football field, not because sports is our lane, but because COMMUNITY is. Because impact is. Because if there is an opportunity to rally this town around something bigger than a scoreboard, we are going to be there every single time.

T.U.R.F.S. carries the tournament. We carry the mission behind it. Every event we pour ourselves into points back to one thing…making life better for the people of Lea County. The Lea County Schools Crisis Fund exists because people in this community believe that kids deserve a fighting chance. And tournaments like this one help make that possible.

So from our staff to this community, thank you for letting us show up for you. In boardrooms, in classrooms, on flag football fields, and everywhere in between.

This is what United Way looks like. 💛❤️💙
