Big news from the LCCA family!

Our Executive Director welcomed his sweet new baby girl into the world.

That's why things have been quiet on our page lately, but don't worry, behind the scenes, LCCA has been as busy as ever. We've got amazing classes, workshops, and events in the works, and we can't wait to share the details with you very soon.

In the meantime, come see us tomorrow! Join LCCA and many other nonprofits at the Shipp Street Plaza for Family Fun Zone, part of Hobbs August Nites, from 10am to 4pm. We'll have an art wall set up where you're invited to draw right on it... Yes, really! No rules (well, some rules), just creativity.

Bring the whole family and come make some art with us. What will you draw on our wall? Don't miss it!

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our friend David Herman.

David spent his days changing lives as a Lifeskills Facilitator at Option Inc. in Hobbs — a strong voice and a tireless advocate for so many people who needed someone in their corner. He showed up for others, again and again, and our community is better because of it.

And when the workday ended, David picked up a paintbrush. He was Hobbs' very own "Bob Ross." He taught two wonderful hands-on painting classes here at the Lea County Center for the Arts, guiding beginners through happy little trees and reminding everyone there are no mistakes — just happy accidents. He was also one of our featured artists, sharing well over 40 paintings with us.

That was David. He used his gifts to help people and to make people smile.

We will miss him deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his coworkers, and everyone whose life he touched.

Rest easy, David. Thank you!

We’re so grateful to Blanca Perez for choosing LCCA to host her book-signing event. Her story is one of courage, resilience, and hope, sharing her journey through a thirteen-year marriage marked by control and fear, and the path she took to reclaim her voice, identity, and healing.

We also want to recognize The Phoenix House and the incredible work they do for our community. Their compassionate support, advocacy, and resources make a meaningful difference for individuals and families who need help, safety, and hope the most.
Blanca’s book is a powerful reminder that no one has to walk through difficult circumstances alone. We encourage you to check it out and support this important message. It is available on Amazon, click the link to learn more.

Calling all Millennials and beyond, are you ready to dust off those plastic guitars and prove you still have what it takes? 🎸🔥

We’re thinking about hosting a Clone Hero (Guitar Hero) Competition at Lea County Center for the Arts, and we want to know: would you participate or at least show up to cheer on the brave souls competing?

There would be an entry fee, prizes for the winners, and divisions for different skill levels, so you don’t have to be an Expert-mode shredder to join the fun!

Possible prize levels could include:

- Beginner Division: $50 prize (TBD)

- Intermediate Division: $100 (TBD)

- Expert Division: $150 (TBD)

- Plus bragging rights, of course. 😎

Whether you’re a casual button-masher, a living-room rock legend, or someone who just wants to watch the competition and enjoy the music, we’d love to hear from you!

Comment below:
🎸 Would you participate?
👀 Would you attend and watch?
💡 What songs, divisions, prize amounts, or competition ideas would make this an event you’d be excited about?

Let’s see if Hobbs is ready to rock! 🤘
