Hobart Jaycees

Hobart Jaycees check us out at www.hobartjaycees.com The Hobart Jaycees have served our community for over 60 years.

We are a Non-Profit Organization who strive to make our community better by helping others. We are a group of young people, ages 21 to 40, that give the tools needed to build the bridges of success for themselves. We better ourselves by learning business development, management skills, individual training, and community service that make us leaders in our community. We are drawn together because w

e have common interests in building solid friendships, and creating business connections and referrals for life through our community activities and national membership ties. We have come together to create a better world though positive change. We are constantly seeking like-minded, individuals who wish to strengthen their business skills and community by building new relationships with their peers. We believe in LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVICE to the community, and want YOU to find out how you can better yourself while working to better your community.

In 2020 we announced that we would be closing our chapter at the end of the year. As with all things in 2020, we had to pivot. We look forward to celebrating over 70 years of family, comraderie, and service to Hobart with current and former members and supporters at our final farewell banquet.

Ticket sales will open next week and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please fill out this form to receive a formal invitation by mail: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSclKm9NRkALLyRmoP6FaAPi2RIyhgYPmShQeQc_EdsQpTXm7g/viewform

After 70 years, the Hobart Jaycees have decided to dissolve our organization at the end of the 2020 calendar year. The decision was not made lightly, but we felt it was necessary due to declining membership. With a lack of volunteers in our membership, it has become increasingly difficult to operate our key projects, implement new fundraising projects, and demonstrate the value of membership to new recruits.

The Hobart Jaycees are best known for our legendary Jayceefest that grew from a beer garden behind city hall in the late 1970’s to bringing nationally known acts in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. While we enjoyed sharing those unforgettable experiences with Hobart, our heart has always been with our community projects. Many projects have been staples in our organization for over 50 years, such as the Easter Egg Hunt or providing gifts to children at Christmas time. However, the Hobart Jaycees have also organized hundreds of projects based on the needs of the community: from rat exterminations in the 1960’s, to designing and helping build Hillman Park in the 1970’s, to sponsoring fireworks at Brickie Bowl in the 1980’s, to purchasing a police dog in the 1990’s, to building the playground at Veteran’s Park in the 2000’s. Even with membership dwindling over the last 10 years, the Hobart Jaycees have been able to raise and donate over $100,000 back to charitable causes.

While the life of the Hobart Jaycees may be coming to an end, our key projects, such as Mud Volleyball and Easter Egg Hunt, will live on as we will be working with other volunteer organizations throughout this year to transition projects. We know that our outreach over the last 70 years has impacted many lives and we hope that the last line in the Jaycee creed lives on ...”service to humanity is the best work of life!”
