Behind the scenes, we have been working with the city on the reformation of the city Scouting Board that manages the administration and upkeep of the Scout Cabin, an invaluable and unique resource for Scouting in Hobart.
Thank you to the City Council and the Mayor's office for addressing our concerns and making the necessary moves to reestablish the board so that we may begin preserving and restoring the cabin to its former glory.
City Council Recap:
The Hobart Common Council approved changes related to the governance and oversight of the Scout Cabin, a community resource used by local scouting organizations including Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Girl Scouts.
The action follows several months of discussions between Mayor Josh Huddlestun and local scouting leaders regarding the long-term sustainability of the facility and local scouting programs. As volunteer leadership naturally changes over time, the approved structure is intended to help provide continuity, support coordination among scouting organizations, and ensure consistent stewardship of the Scout Cabin for future generations.
The initiative reflects the City's commitment to supporting youth development opportunities and preserving community assets that have served Hobart families for decades.
Board appointments and swearing-in ceremonies are expected soon. Additional details will be shared as they become available.
