🌿 What a beautiful year this has been.

This little group of children became a true school family — learning together, playing together, caring for butterflies and tadpoles, listening to stories, singing folksongs, making art, asking endless questions, and growing in ways both visible and invisible.

One of the things I love most about MindGarden is that it never feels like children are being rushed through childhood. There is room here for wonder, relationship, movement, imagination, meaningful work, and joyful learning. Watching these children settle into relationship with one another, with nature, with stories, and with the world around them has been such a gift.

I’m incredibly grateful to our families for trusting us with their children this year, and deeply thankful for Miss Jessica, whose warmth, steadiness, creativity, and love for children helped shape our classroom every week. 💚

As we look ahead to next year, we still have a few openings remaining for families who feel drawn to this kind of learning environment.

MindGarden is an inclusive, relationship-centered homeschool enrichment program inspired by Charlotte Mason, developmental science, attachment theory, play, nature, living books, art, music, and meaningful connection. We meet children as whole people — not just students.

If you’ve been curious about MindGarden, I’d love to meet you. Families interested in next fall are welcome to reach out to schedule a tour, visit the space, and chat with me (Miss B!) about whether MindGarden might be a good fit for your child and family. 🌱

We are also beginning to look for additional adults to grow alongside us as our community expands — teachers, assistants, and caring mentors who genuinely enjoy children and resonate with our philosophy. You do not need a traditional teaching degree. We’re much more interested in adults who are warm, emotionally grounded, collaborative, capable of leading children with kindness and confidence, and excited about creating an atmosphere of wonder and belonging.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this first year so special. The roots of something beautiful are growing here. 🌿

Hey! It’s me — Carrie! 👋🌈

The person usually running around behind Homeschool 100 with a phone camera, scanning QR codes, asking if anyone needs water or bandaids, and answering all the kids’ questions about where shoes go, what the fish’s names are, and whether it’s okay to climb the walls 😂

As we wrap up this year of Homeschool 100, I just want to say THANK YOU x100!!

Thank you to every homeschool family who came to play, connect, laugh, chase kids through the jungle, reheat coffee 100 times, and help make these afternoons feel so full of life and community. 💛

What started as “100 minutes of play” became so much more:
✨ friendships
✨ conversations between parents
✨ kids finding their people
✨ local businesses connecting with homeschool families
✨ and a whole lot of beautiful chaos

A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing sponsors this year for helping make these events possible:

🌿 MindGarden Learning
🧩 Pieces of Learning - Chattanooga
🧁 Maddy Cakes TN
🦅 HappiNest Raptor Rescue
🤸 The Flip Spot Gym
🌲 Woodlands Educational Initiative
🧶 The Knot and Needle Fiber Arts
🐒 Jungle Fun Center

If you attended this year, we’d LOVE for you to go follow these businesses and show them some support online. Local businesses pouring into homeschool community spaces truly matters.

We’re already planning next school year’s Homeschool 100 events!
Previous sponsors may reserve their spots now, and if there’s a local business you’d love to see featured next year, send us their name! 👀

AND… ☀️ Summer Open Play at Jungle Fun starts soon!
If your kids still need to burn energy this summer (they do 😂), come see us.

Also — if Homeschool 100 has meant something to your family this year, the BEST way to support Jungle Fun Center is:
⭐ leaving a review
🎉 booking a birthday party
📣 telling your friends about us

Thank you for helping us build something joyful for homeschool families here in Chattanooga. 💚

One last Homeschool 100 before summer break ☀️

Come celebrate the end of the school year with:

📸 the most ridiculously fun homeschool photo op ever

We’re talking:
“KEEPIN’ IT 100”
“100 reheated coffees”
“100 snacks later”
“Mentally at summer break”
and enough silly props to make your camera roll absolutely unhinged 😂

Mustaches. Hats. Summer glasses. Signs. Chaos. Memories.

This is basically a homeschool family yearbook photo… if yearbook photos were taken at a jungle birthday party with tired moms, sugared-up kids, and somebody wearing a fake mustache upside down.

🌿 A little reminder for our homeschool community — MindGarden Learning is tucked inside Jungle Fun Center right here in Hixson… and a lot of people have no idea what’s hiding inside that building until they walk through the doors. 😄

This month’s Homeschool 100 is our LAST one of the school year, and it’s the perfect chance to come play, connect, and finally see the space for yourself before summer starts. ☀️

Inside is a huge immersive jungle play space designed for kids to move, imagine, climb, and play hard — especially helpful on those blazing hot Tennessee summer days when everyone needs somewhere to GO. 😂

And honestly? It’s also a really fun place to keep in mind for:
🎉 birthday parties
🦁 summer playdates
🎈 family celebrations

We’ll have an end-of-year party feel this month with cotton candy, balloons, a piñata, and a fun photo spot by the rainbow jungle mural to send the kids into summer break well-played and happy. 💛

If you’ve been meaning to come check it out, this is a great one to join us for.
Registration required: https://mindgardenlearning.com/events/

Pssst… we’re hiding in plain sight!
You might drive right by Jungle Fun Center without even realizing it—but step inside, and it’s a whole jungle of fun!
Our party space is WAY bigger than it looks from the outside (seriously—everyone says so). Perfect for birthdays, baby showers, and letting kids run wild!
Want to take a look? Call or text us—we’d love to show you around. 📞423.281.8088

Thank you to The Knot and Needle Fiber Arts for bringing your beautiful work into the Jungle and sharing it with our homeschool community.

The kids and parents loved seeing handcrafts up close—especially those sheep made out of sheep (wool!) 🐑😄

It was such a gift to have you there, answering questions, showing your process, and giving families a feel for what you offer.

We’re so thankful you were part of it. 💛

And parents—if your kids loved this, their summer camps are worth a look. ☀️🧶

This Saturday!

This Saturday!

Lucas’s story isn’t shared to teach techniques or offer quick fixes.
It’s shared to invite a different way of seeing.

At HeartGarden Parent Circle, we don’t start with strategies for stopping behavior.
We start with understanding how children are biologically designed to grow, attach, and regulate.

When a child’s nervous system is overwhelmed, behavior gets louder.
When attachment feels strained, cooperation disappears.
No amount of rewards or consequences can fix that — but insight can change everything.

This is an insight-based parent circle, not a technique-based class.
We slow down, look beneath behavior, and explore how nervous system safety and attachment shape what children can tolerate, integrate, and grow from.

From that understanding, very real and practical changes do emerge —
not from tricks or control, but from restored relationship and reduced pressure.

🟢 Details:
• $35 per family
• Children play in the Jungle Fun Center while parents gather nearby
• Led by developmental educator Carrie Bourgo

Kids play while adults reflect, ask questions, and make sense of stories like Lucas’s together.

If this story stirred something in you, you’re warmly invited to join us.

There’s a reason handwork has always been part of a child’s education 💛

It slows things down.
It builds patience.
It gives children the experience of making something real—
and seeing it through to completion.

We’re looking forward to having The Knot and Needle Fiber Arts with us at Homeschool 100,
sharing their classes and bringing sample projects to explore.

If handwork has felt like something you want to include but haven’t quite found your way into—
this might be a gentle place to begin.
