We were so glad to see a full room at this morning’s Friends of Hixson Community Meeting. Seeing neighbors, business owners, and community leaders come together to share ideas shows just how much people care about Hixson and its future.

Much of the discussion focused on the possibilities for redeveloping Northgate Mall into a welcoming town center. Ideas included neighborhood businesses and services, more walkable areas, inviting public spaces, greenway connections, a possible hotel, and even the potential for a future library.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared your thoughts. We are proud to help bring our community together for conversations that will shape the next chapter of Hixson.

Join Friends of Hixson for our July Coffee Meeting on Wednesday, July 15, at 8:00 a.m. at Valleybrook Golf Club.

This meeting will serve as the second Northgate Mall visioning session, giving community members another opportunity to share ideas and input on the future of Northgate Mall and the surrounding area.

Attendees will be invited to weigh in on potential uses for the property, preferred design character, public gathering spaces, open areas, and other elements that could contribute to a renewed and vibrant Northgate area.

The meeting is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

Ace Pickleball Club, the Chattanooga area's first club dedicated solely to pickleball, is set to open Friday in Hixson.

Formerly a Stockdale's "farm shop," the 44,000-square-foot club offers 16 cushioned indoor courts in a climate-controlled facility for year-round play, owner Don Jacobson III said in an interview.

The Chattanooga resident recently opened another Ace Pickleball Club in Knoxville, which is one of 35 locations across the U.S. for the Roswell, Georgia-based franchise, according to its website.

Each court at the club is designated for either beginner, intermediate or advanced players. The club uses an open play model, in which individual players place their paddle into a slot in a court's plastic holder (the club calls it putting a "paddle in the saddle") to reserve a spot on the court for the next match.
