STUDENT JOURNALISTS PUBLISHED!

East Paulding HS reporters Madison Thompson and Xitlali Ramirez-Hernandez explore community reactions to Senate Bill 630, which would have dissolved the City of Hiram and shifted services to county control.

As part of our ongoing partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting, the Student Voices Collective promotes the student voice and their reporting on local stories.

We want to thank our community partners for allowing us to film in the Hiram Rosenwald School. The Hiram Rosenwald School Museum, established in 1930, served as the backdrop for our interviews and stands as a symbol of the community's enduring history.

As per tradition, Raider Studios took selfies on top of the press box after graduation. 📸

Every door that opened to them this year was made possible because of their resilience, persistence, and commitment to success. We have made so many tremendous memories on the field, in the classroom, in Atlanta, in Downtown Dallas, in the studio, and so much more. To top it off, this crew not only worked in the heat but also the rain. 🌧️

We are thrilled to announce that our talented students have earned 1st Place in General Excellence for Sports Broadcast at the Georgia Scholastic Press Association's contest held at the University of Georgia! Please join us in celebrating Jamil Sesay, Josiah Fletcher, Drew Britton, MJ Johnston, Madi Thompson, and Xitlali Ramierez-Hernandez for this remarkable achievement. This outstanding entry has been recognized as All-Georgia by the judges as the highest honor bestowed upon the best entries in the competition, reflecting the exceptional quality of their work and their dedication to broadcast journalism excellence among 600 entries.

We also extend special congratulations to Xitlali Ramierez-Hernandez for earning a Superior designation for her exceptional news package on Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. This dual recognition reflects her outstanding skill, creativity, and commitment to meaningful storytelling. Their hard work, professionalism, and passion for broadcast journalism have made us incredibly proud. 🏴‍☠️

Judges stated "The talent on this show are particularly confident, displaying a high level of comfort. They become the authority on these sports. The production crew also does a wonderful job of lighting and audio production to make them look and sound clean. Jamil and Josiah are GREAT on camera. I hope they consider studying sports media at UGA. Their pacing and chemistry is far beyond most high school broadcasts."

Judges also added, "I would use the flow of this show as a template for high school video production in the future. It operates as a news show but also becomes source material that can easily be used to build a strong social media following. The show features a strong variety of faces and voices. I'm particularly enamored with the video podcast-style interview. As traditional broadcasts fade, that version of production will be the future. Excellent show!"

AWARD NOMINATION: Big news from East Paulding High School AVTF!

Raider Studios is proud to announce that its sports show, The Cannon, has been nominated for a Southeastern EMMY® Student Production Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). Nominees Jamil Sesay, Josiah Fletcher, MJ Johnston, and Drew Britton, all juniors at East Paulding High School, are invited to attend the award ceremony at SCAD on March 21st where industry professionals will recognize the winners and nomineees.

The nomination recognizes the outstanding work of the student journalists, producers, and crew members behind The Cannon, who work tirelessly to deliver high-quality sports coverage to their school and community. The Southeastern EMMY® Student Production Awards celebrate excellence in student television production across the region, honoring the next generation of broadcast professionals. Being nominated places Raider Studios among the most distinguished student media programs in the Southeast.
