Tear Cap Workshops Tear Cap Workshops is a non-profit organization, and our mission is to unleash creativity through hands-on learning. Our campus is a former sawmill.

We have workshop space for established artisans, and hands-on learning opportunities in craft education. Tear Cap Workshops aims to build community between varied creative disciplines - wood, metal, stone, food - connected by their importance to rural life in Maine. To make good use of the former sawmill buildings on site, we rent some of these separate buildings to established artisans who are making their living at their chosen craft. Resident artisans represent woodworking, timberframing, cabinetmaking, farming and guitarmaking. Students who come for a day-long class have the opportunity to connect with these incredible artisans and catch a glimpse of a worklife based in craft.

A little bit of magic right here at Tear Cap Workshops! 🦋💚 We discovered a beautiful monarch chrysalis on the property. Nature has a way of surprising us when we slow down and look closely. We’ll be keeping an eye out for our newest little neighbor in the coming days! 🌿✨
