First-generation student. Future history teacher. 📚

For Allyson Hartzell ’27, finding her path to college meant figuring out a lot of firsts—including how to make it financially possible. With support from Hiram’s Financial Aid team, she found the guidance she needed to navigate the process and focus on what came next.

Now, as an Integrated Social Studies and History double major, Allyson is preparing for a future in the classroom, where she hopes to teach high school history and American government.

Her advice for future Terriers? There’s a place for you here—and always something happening on the Hill.

Campus may be a little quieter in the summer, but our students have been busy making an impact behind the scenes.

Seven Hiram students spent their summer tackling major projects in the Hiram College Library—from reorganizing thousands of books and preparing archival collections for future research to refreshing the library’s digital presence.
