Winter Lake Bubbler/Aerator is before Conservation Commission at Tuesday’s Meeting - Last winter there were 3 Winter bubblers/aerators operating in Hinsdale. A neighbor of one of onesuch device has asked Hinsdale Conservation Commission to make a determination on the use of Winter bubblers/aerators that keep the lake water artificially thawed. The Conservation Commission's meeting is this Tuesday at 6:00 and the agenda item is as follows:
Request for Determination of Applicability for whether the use of water bubblers or any such devices used in the winter time to melt the frozen ice into water can negatively affect Land Under a Waterbody and the interests of the Wetlands Protection Act for Ashmere Lake. Applicant is Judith Ross.
The commissioners' concerns will be contained to the environmental impacts to the lake as it relates to the Wetlands Protection Act. They have the ability to lessen those impacts by issuing Orders of Conditions which could go a long way to regulating the device’s impact. A result of this meeting could be that anyone choosing to use a Winter de-icer will then be required to submit a similar RDA request before use. This is the first step in the regulation process. IF the Commission is interested in a public opinion this will be a chance to be heard and your attendance at the meeting will show them addressing this topic is important to the lake communities.
