Today we’re excited to welcome two new staff members, Allie and Minori!

Joining us this summer as a member of our kitchen team, Allie is from Greenwich, NY and is studying Food Science at Cornell University. She has loved cooking and baking since she was a little kid and was drawn to BLAC because she loves using food to provide nutrients and energy for kids. Fueling adventure is her passion! She’s especially looking forward to making delicious food for all the awesome people she’ll meet this summer while enjoying the outdoors. Outside the kitchen, Allie loves yoga, reading, and fly fishing. A fun fact about her is that she directs an improv comedy group at Cornell!

We’re also thrilled to welcome Minori, who will be joining camp as a Waterfront Counselor! Minori is from Tokyo, Japan. She is currently studying here in the United States and is a rising sophomore at DePauw University in Indiana. She loves all kinds of outdoor activities including running, hiking, and skiing, and is especially excited to experience the Berkshires for the first time this summer. She’s looking forward to campfires, spending time outdoors, and getting to know the BLAC community while working on the waterfront in such a beautiful place.

Today we’re excited to welcome two new staff members, Clara and Adrihanna!

Joining camp as a Waterfront Counselor, Clara is an English major at the University of Connecticut, fresh off a gap year she spent traveling the world! She grew up on the water of Massachusetts' Southcoast, sailing with her parents and competing for her high school. She also has experience in ballet and theater, which is part of what drew her to BLAC. Her training is with preschool age children, but she has experience with all age groups and is excited to get to know and connect with campers. In her free time, she loves to garden, bake, read, and play with her dog Mango. She can't wait to spend time outdoors and make friends while getting to mentor so many artistic girls!

We are also welcoming Adrihanna, who will be serving as our Videographer, and one of our Social Media Managers. Adrihanna is pursuing an accelerated bachelor’s and master’s degree in Journalism and History at Quinnipiac University, and she grew up in Weedsport, NY. She attended day camps throughout her childhood and worked as a camp counselor during high school. At school, she manages two social media accounts for student organizations and works as a Production Assistant creating promotional social content for her university. Her mom is a music teacher, so she grew up surrounded by the arts, and in her spare time, she enjoys reading, sewing, collecting vintage items, and writing. This summer, she is looking forward to creating cool and creative social content with the campers to capture camp life.

For today's Staff Feature Friday we're welcoming our new Food Service Director, head chef and manager of our kitchen, Tonya!

Tonya grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and now lives in Southern Indiana. She earned a degree in Physical Education and French before serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Gabon, West Africa. Following her service, Tonya built a career working at camps in a variety of roles, including Nature Counselor, Assistant Director, Camp Director, and Food Service Manager.

Over the years, she discovered that the kitchen is where she feels most at home and energized. Tonya loves feeding people and takes pride in creating meals that balance comforting favorites with fresh, healthy options. She is especially looking forward to working and living in a beautiful, creative environment this summer.

Outside of camp, Tonya is the proud mom of a soon-to-be high school graduate and enjoys spending her free time making music.

Meet our Dance & Theater leadership!

Lovingly known around camp as “Showgirl,” Dance & Theater Director Michelle Bruckner brings Broadway talent, world touring experience, and a multi-faceted teaching history to our Dance & Theater program. From performing in Chicago on Broadway and A Chorus Line on tour to teaching at AMDA in NYC, Michelle inspires campers to grow both on and off the stage.

Plus, we are excited to introduce our new Assistant Theater Director, Brittani Moore. Brittani is an actress, singer, director, and vocal coach whose passion for storytelling shines both on and off the stage. With experience directing, coaching, and mentoring young performers, we are confident Brittani will bring creativity, warmth, and a love of musical theater to every camper she works with.
