Maddie Owens will be heading to Penn State University this fall, where she’ll study Premed in the Eberly College of Science.

During her time at Hingham High, Maddie stood out not only for her dedication in the classroom and on the water, but for the kindness, positivity, and energy she brought to the people around her every day. She is a member of the National Honor Society, served as Secretary of the Biology Club, earned the Massachusetts Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, completed a volunteer internship at Tufts Medical Center, and spent summers as a sailing instructor at Hingham Maritime Center.

Whether helping younger sailors gain confidence on the water, supporting teammates, or balancing the demands of academics and athletics, Maddie has always led with warmth, determination, and heart.

Maddie, we are so proud of all you’ve accomplished and so grateful for the impact you’ve had on this team and community. Congratulations on this exciting next chapter at Penn State!

Lachlan Knies is heading to the University of Glasgow, where he’ll study Economics, Business, and Management.

During his time at Hingham High, Lachlan balanced rowing, rigorous academics, and community involvement with a calm and steady presence that teammates could always count on. He completed five AP classes, consistently earned High Honor Roll and Honor Roll recognition, and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also received the Civics Award and the Spanish Seal of Biliteracy.

Beyond the classroom and the boat, Lachlan volunteered countless hours at the Hingham Maritime Center, giving back to the waterfront community that has been such a big part of his life growing up.

Lachlan has always been someone who quietly put in the work, supported the people around him, and brought plenty of laughs along the way. We’re really going to miss seeing him around the boathouse and are excited to see what comes next for him in Scotland. Congratulations, Lachlan!

Nicolas Mangili will be attending Virginia Tech this fall, where he’ll study Mechanical Engineering. A captain of Hingham Crew, Nicolas has led with consistency, humility, and a strong work ethic that earned the respect of teammates and coaches alike.

A High Honor Roll student, Nicolas challenged himself with AP Physics and AP Calculus while earning Outstanding Achievement Awards in both Power Technology and Automotive Shop. He also spent the past two summers interning at MASSA Products Co., gaining hands-on engineering experience beyond the classroom.

Outside of rowing, Nicolas is the first chair tenor saxophonist in the HHS Jazz Band and plays banjo in his free time — bringing both creativity and focus to everything he does.

We’re grateful for the leadership and steady presence Nicolas brought to this team over the years and excited to see where his next chapter takes him. Congratulations, Nicolas!

Lydia D’Arcy is heading to Loyola University Maryland, where she’ll major in Marketing and Digital Media & Design — and continue her rowing career as an official Loyola signee.

Lydia grew up on the water at Hingham Maritime Center before finding her way to rowing in middle school, and she’s been all in ever since. From early mornings on the harbor to years of dedication with Hingham Crew, she’s built friendships, resilience, and a love for the sport that will carry into this next chapter.

We’re so excited to see Lydia continue competing at the collegiate level and can’t wait to watch her thrive with her new teammates at Loyola.

Congratulations, Lydia — your Hingham Crew family is so proud of you! ❤️

Jack O’Leary has been part of Hingham Crew all four years, and life on the water has always been a huge part of who he is. A lifelong mariner, Jack has spent the past three summers working as a sailing instructor at the Hingham Maritime Center, helping younger kids build confidence and a love for being out on the harbor.

This fall, Jack will continue that path at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he’ll study Marine Engineering and row for the crew team under Coach Edwards. He’s already connected with future teammates and is excited for what’s ahead.

Whether rowing, sailing, or mentoring younger athletes, Jack brings a steady presence and strong work ethic to everything he does. We’re proud of all he’s accomplished over these past four years and can’t wait to see what’s next for him at MMA.

Congratulations, Jack! ❤️🖤

Dads dadding. 😂
How many crew dads does it take to fix a tarp? Apparently… a lot. And this was only part of the crew this past weekend. Pete Owens was found covering trailer duties and serving up his final smash burgers of the season at the grill - like a legend. 🍔

From tarp duty to trailers to hospitality tents to anything else that needs doing — we are beyond grateful for the nonstop parent volunteers who keep this program moving.

Today’s shoutout goes to our parents. We couldn’t do this without you. ❤️🖤

When Ryan Potter unexpectedly transferred schools during his sophomore year, he quickly found a home within the Hingham Crew community — and the team was better for it. Ryan brought curiosity, determination, and a great sense of adventure both on and off the water.

At Hingham High, Ryan challenged himself with as many AP History and Social Science courses as he could fit into his schedule, fueled by his strong interest in politics and history.

Outside of rowing and academics, Ryan loves to travel and seek out adventure — from hiking in California and the Alps to taking on Via Ferratas in the Dolomites.

This fall, Ryan will attend Marist University to study Political Science. We’re proud of the way Ryan embraced every opportunity and grateful he became part of the Hingham Crew family.
