Our celebration scheduled for Saturday, October 17, has been postponed until spring 2027 due to the forecast of severe weather and plunging temperatures.

While we're disappointed, the safety of our guests, volunteers, and vendors comes first.

The new plan? We're celebrating "55 + 1" next spring! ⚓

For 55 years, Barnes Wharf has brought together sailors, rowers, coaches, instructors, volunteers, staff, families and friends.

Where it all began. ⛵ Summer 1971.

Take a look back at opening day at Lincoln Sailing Club! A celebration that marked the beginning of something pretty special on Hingham Harbor.

55 years, a few name changes, and thousands of sailors, rowers, paddlers, friendships, and memories later, that same spirit is alive and well at Hingham Maritime Center.

Next Saturday, October 17, we're bringing the community together to celebrate 55 years of making the harbor accessible to all.

Our summer Waterfront Director, Jamie Frady, is racing with UNH’s big boat team at the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta on Long Island Sound—and his boat is currently first in class with one day of sailing to go! ⛵️

Such a cool event: 47 schools from across the country, with roughly 200–300 college sailors competing aboard boats loaned by private owners.

Long before it was Hingham Maritime Center, there was a community gathering here on the water.

Lincoln Sailing Club. Lincoln Sailing Center. Lincoln Maritime Center. Hingham Maritime Center.

The names have changed over 55 years. The connection to Hingham Harbor—and to one another—hasn't.

If you learned here, worked here, sailed here, rowed here, volunteered here or watched your kids grow up here, this celebration is yours, too.

Before Hingham Maritime Center, there was Lincoln Sailing Center. ⛵️

For 55 years, this little corner of Hingham Harbor has been a place to learn, race, row, sail, volunteer, make friends and simply get out on the water.

A lot has changed since these early days. What hasn’t changed is the idea that the harbor should be a place our community can enjoy.
