Meet Hondo.

He’s blind. He’s lumpy. One eye looks to the heavens, and the other gave up somewhere along the way. His tail wags like it’s sending out a desperate Morse code from a soul that just wants to be loved.

We’re not entirely sure what kind of dog he is — maybe a mix of piglet, old bread, and your uncle’s recliner that’s seen better days. But none of that matters.

Because Hondo?
Hondo is love.

Pure, unconditional, tail-wagging, snort-happy love in a body that’s been through a lot — and still chooses joy.

He doesn’t see the world, but he feels it. He follows your scent like a compass, leans into snuggles like his life depends on them, and makes the sweetest little pig noises when he's excited. He doesn’t care that life hasn’t been kind to him — he’s still offering everything he has to give.

Hondo won’t win ribbons or stop traffic.
But he will break your heart open and fill it with something fierce and lasting.

He’s amazing with kids, gets along with other dogs, and is potty and crate trained. He’s been overlooked, probably more times than we can count. But he’s still waiting, still hoping, still wagging.

Someone out there is Hondo’s person.

ASHER UPDATE ❤️

We are happy to share that Asher was able to leave the hospital a few days ago and has settled into his foster home. He’s making new dog friends, relaxing on the couch and even gave his first bark at his last vet appointment. Asher’s wounds continue to heal and he is well on his way to the future he deserves.

Thank you to everyone that has helped Asher on his journey so far! Your kindness and support gave him what he needed to stay strong and finally learn what it feels like to be loved 🥰

CHANGE DOES HAPPEN ONE DOG AT A TIME ❤

When there's so many animals in need it can be hard to feel like we're making a difference. BUT WE ARE!

Working with our partner HAART - Helping All Animals in Rural Towns to get as many dogs as possible sterilized we not only help each animal stay healthier but prevent future litters of puppies that would struggle to have healthy and happy lives.

Changing one dogs life does indeed have a very big impact!

ASHER NEEDS OUR HELP!!!

Last week Asher was brutally attacked by a pack of feral dogs while chained up, unable to defend himself. He was later found dumped on a dirt road and left to die. Thankfully, someone found him and reached out for help, taking him to the emergency vet.

Asher is still at CVETS in Columbia, SC and is receiving the best possible care. This sweet boy is working so hard to heal but he needs some help with his vet bill which is climbing each day. He has a rescue that specializes in medical cases ready to take him once he’s stable enough for travel.

The amazing Sabrina Faircloth with Pawsitively Orangeburg has been visiting Asher everyday and doing everything possible to make sure his next chapter is one full of love and happiness.

Please help us help Asher! There have been some donations toward his vet bills but the current balance is $7,982.05 and will continue to increase.

Let’s come together and help Asher on his journey to a healthy and happy tail wagging future.

EXCITING NEWS FROM AFRICA!

The Protrack Anti-poaching Unit in South Africa has found incredible success training rescue dogs to be working dogs with a rhino poacher being caught writhin the first 6 months of training.

As the poaching crisis continues, increasing the number of dogs trained to help protect animals at risk is critical.

Our rescue partner has decided to work with the Protrack team to help give rescue dogs the opportunity to become part of the K9 Anti-poaching team.

Last week after assessing the potential candidates the first HAART dog was chosen to enter the training program.

The dog that will lead the HAART Anti-poaching project is… Misty 🩷

Misty has already passed her first anti-poaching lesson and has easily adjusted to being in the training program.

We wish Misty all the best on her journey to becoming a very valued member of the anti-poaching team! 🦏❤️🐘

Incredible job done by Newhouse Wildlife Rescue! They found two orphaned goslings a new mama and family just in time to kick off Mother's Day weekend. It's always so inspiring to see a wild mama accept an orphan and raise it as their own. So happy for these babies! ❤

Jolene is patiently waiting for adopters to arrive this week. She has seen many dogs come and go at Palmetto Animal League, and we want so badly for her to find her soulmate. This southern belle has impeccable leash manners and loves going on outings with her favorite volunteers. She's a low maintenance kind of gal who just needs to find a kindred soul, someone she can trust. If you have a patient heart, a gentle hand, and you're looking for a faithful companion, Jolene would be a wonderful friend to do life with.
