GALAX BUILD UPDATE:

WE were ready.
VOLUNTEERS were ready.
CHURCHES were ready.
EXCAVATION was ready.
TRUSSES were ready.
FAMILY was ready.
COMMUNITY was ready

God said.......WAIT.

We have been so excited for our sixth home to be constructed in the City of Galax. We have been blessed by the citizens and employees of the City already as we have worked toward this endeavor. After the removal of the existing collapsed house, asbestos abatement, and cleanup, grading revealed soft soil and a very active spring. Unfortunately, these discoveries have led to concerns that must be addressed individually forcing us to POSTPONE our May 2026 home build.

Please continue to pray for this project! We are NOT leaving this undone.....we are simply WAITING on the perfect time......God's time.

We are less than 1 month away from our 2026 Home Build IN THE CITY OF GALAX!!! We are so excited to be welcoming visitors from across the country to our little town all in the name of Jesus! Please be praying for our build, volunteers, the receiving family, our community, and that Jesus is glorified in all we do!

Our home site is making great progress as some demolition was required before building can begin. A special THANK YOU to Christ Chapel for making the demo possible!

Day FINAL

Time flies when you’re having fun!! Can you believe it?!! The week is coming to an end. In just five days an entire home was built! We are, as always, in awe of what God’s People, our family, can do.

Yesterday evening sheet rock was installed, today the roof and siding will be completed, and tomorrow we welcome the Newman family home!!! We would love for you to join us tomorrow (9/14) morning at 10:00 am to dedicate the home and meet the Newman’s! (New construction located beside 441 C**n Ridge Road, Hillsville)

On this last day of work volunteers will be led in morning devotion by Jeff Garrison and lunch will be provided by Bluemont Presbyterian Church.

As you go throughout your day, take a moment to utter a Thank You on our behalf. Words tend to fail us when we are so grateful for the work that has been done by people who just want to serve Jesus and love on others, but we know a simple Thank You will suffice.

Day Four

It seems as if we talk a lot about volunteers and that’s because the Fuller Center wouldn’t exist without volunteers. Fuller Center for Housing - Greater Carroll County Area is 100% supported by volunteers and donations. Every board member serves because they believe in the mission of Fuller. Every dollar donated is done so because the donor believes in the mission of Fuller. Even the neighbors who offer their yard for parking, do so because they believe in the Fuller Center ministry and how it is strengthening our community. While we are so thankful for the volunteers who have traveled from across the country to serve, we can’t NOT acknowledge locals. Local volunteers, donors, business owners, and churches are truly the backbone of our organization. There are countless hours spent devoted to this ministry that nobody wants credit for. Builds like this wouldn’t be possible without all of the behind the scene prep work that takes place. We would surely forget someone if we named each one individually.

HOWEVER, we really want to acknowledge the Carroll County High School Building Trades classes and the Wytheville Community College HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing programs. The students from these programs are given hands on experience while working on the house. The hours they work will benefit them as they enter the trade work industry. They are given the opportunity to learn while giving back to their community and maybe, just maybe, we are planting a Jesus seed in them!

As always, work at the house has moved quickly!!! We will soon be ready to welcome our new family home! And we CAN’T WAIT!!!! Windows are in, some siding is up, students worked yesterday on electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. The Interior will be insulated and ready for Sheetrock after inspection.
Looks like another great day for progress!

Today devotions are led by Rebecca Taylor and lunch will be served by Hillsville Presbyterian Church! One things for sure…..our volunteers have eaten good this week!!!

As you go about your day, take a minute to utter a prayer for the Fuller Center for Housing. That our mission will continue to thrive. That more people will be interested in working with the organization and instead of thinking “I can’t do that” have the mindset that “all things are possible.” That these projects are more about sharing Jesus, and less about building. Pray for safety and for the sun to continue to shine!

Day Two
September 10, 2024

Would you look at that?! Any contractors out there hiring?

Volunteers have made great progress. All walls are up, sheeting is complete, and today the trusses will be lifted.

Today our volunteers will be led in devotion by Rick Clark and lunch will be provided by First United Methodist Church - Hillsville.

You may be wondering, I can’t swing a hammer, how can I get involved? There are many ways you can assist, but the biggest way is to pray. And today we ask you to first, And most importantly, GIVE THANKS!! For people who are willing to love people and serve others in the name of Jesus regardless of age, color, or distance! Thank God for the people, both local and visitor, who are serving and for the opportunity to serve! They believe in the mission of Fuller Center and providing adequate homes for people. Pray for safety for all volunteers and for the sun to continue to shine. Give thanks for Rick Clark and the people at FUMC-Hillsville, as they both have been continued supporters of the Fuller Center for Housing. Continue to pray for our receiving family and for the families that have already received a blessing through Fuller Center. And that That the community sees Jesus through us.

Day One
September 9, 2024

Today our volunteers, from all across the country, will begin work on the house. Can you fathom traveling hundreds, some thousands, of miles to pour into a family and community you don’t know? Taking your vacation time to build a home for a family you’ve never met? Why? Why would people do that? Because of Jesus. Because our faith tells us that we need to do all we can as servants of the church and then let the Lord do the rest!

This morning our volunteers were up, onsite, and ready to work before 7 am!

Today our volunteers will be led in devotion by Matthew Schmidt and lunch will be provided by Heather Quesenberry (she and her family received Fuller House #3).

As you go through your day, keep in mind those that are serving. Pray for safety! Pray for good weather. Pray for Matthew has he lifts the spirits of our volunteers through scripture. Pray for the Quesenberry family, that they will continue to thrive and continue to bless others because they have been blessed. And most importantly, GIVE THANKS!! For people who are willing to love people and serve others in the name of Jesus regardless of age, color, or distance! Thank God for the people, both local and visitor, who are serving and for the opportunity to serve!
