I can't tell you how proud the I am of these Scouts. Thursday at our weekly meeting, we were discussing the coming weather and the merits of being out in this rain. Responsibility, integrity by being committed to see a project through even in less than perfect condions, reliability to each other and to the community, and dependability and consistency were decided upon. Though its not hot and dry like it often is. These scouts are not next generation, they are my heros! If you are at the Hillsville Flea Market this weekend, come see Troop 83, and thank you for your donations as well. They help keep our troop mobile and impactfull.

This weekend Troop 83 will once again be giving away FREE water at the VFW Lot in Hillsville during the Flea Market. We are in GREAT need of water so please bring a case or whatever you can this Thursday. We will meet at regular time and have OA elections then move to set up the site at the VFW. Please give what time you can!!

Weekend Camp out at New Market on the Battlefield with about 500 Scouts. First stop was Natural Bridge, a stop at Buc-cees, setup on the Civil War Battlefield while the only fighting remaining is the battle for place and time on the interstate that lies right along side, the roar of the muskets and the thunder of the cannons are replaced by the rattle of the Jake brakes and the roar of the road. The ground feels different there beneath your feet somehow. Situationaly its new and exciting and still historical and familiar. We found our tents nearly leveled after the winds and rains blew sideways and a storm raged through. We decided to go out for dinner and found a restaurant that looked like a dive but treated us like royalty. Then a little more sightseeing brought us to Cooter's Place and a nice chane meeting with Tom Wopat, Luke Duke, from the Dukes of Hazzard. Troop 283 joind our adventure and we all had great memory making experiences.

This evening Troop 83 met at the Historic Carroll County Courthouse where the Allen's, Goad's, Edwards' and others were involved in shootout that rocked the nation. We have been studying and earning the Crime Prevention and the Law Merit Badges and tonight tied in nicely.
Today is also the National Day of Prayer. We took the opportunity to participate in this National event. Our Troop will be receiving the Patch pictured in the coming days. Our host of this wonderful tour was the treasure of Carroll County herself, Shelby Pucket. The Carroll County Museum is worth your time to visit and Shelby is a wealth of knowledge and heritage. She was kind enough to make certain that our Scouts received the Special Carroll County Courthouse Patch. Wonderful evening!!
