Today, NAAHP honors Juneteenth, a day rooted in Black American history and the long struggle for freedom, justice, and dignity in the United States.
June 19, 1865, marks the day enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
As a Haitian professional organization, we recognize the importance of honoring this day with humility, respect, and solidarity, while keeping its history centered.
May Juneteenth remain a time for reflection, remembrance, learning, and continued commitment to justice.
