Hillsborough Refugee Assistance

Congratulations to Volodymyr, Вован Морской for obtaining his CDL license in Florida so expecting to see him show up with an 18 wheeler soon.
We had a great visit with Volodymyr a few weeks back and went to the Ukraine Festival in Reidsville where the picture below was taken of Vlody with me and Brian Snyder
Otherwise things are well. Sasha and Mariia have their own place and are working hard and the children are in school.
We have $3563 in the HRA account and helped Volodymyr out while he was in school and we also donated $800 from the benefit money to Ukraine House (https://www.facebook.com/ukrainehousedc ) and the United 24 ( https://u24.gov.ua/ ) fund for humanitarian aid to Ukraine .
I am trying to figure out what all the rules are for having an incorporated group with NC. We are not a 501C3 which would take some work and money, but any help would be great, as I am poor at navigating the bureaucracy.
Here is a pix from Ukraine Festival. From left to right - Vlody, Jack Brian. They left before Sasha and Mariia showed up. I saw Veronika Sol there. It was a fun event.

We had our benefit last night and thanks to all the help we had from everybody. Good times and great food. I have not figured out all of the silent auction yet, still doing clean up, but for the event itself we raised $2087 dollars, some of this to this group and some to humanitarian relief for Ukraine.

I have made up a Facebook event for a benefit for both this group and other humanitarian groups TBD for Ukrainian help.
I could use help with planning or work. I have a pretty good handle on music, but ideas about where people can help include:
1) Decorations
2) Food
3) Silent Auction
4) Children's table- crafts etc.
Let me know if you would like to help, and save the date

We now have had about $900 in donations and our only expenditure has been the $100 to register the group with the NC Secretary of State.
I have had mixed advice as to go the route of making this a 501C3, the negative being time, paperwork, and expense, but something I think worth doing as it will keep the structure for any future sponsorships.
Our truckdriver, single gentleman, military veteran, got his authorization to travel. He is looking into truck driving schools which could be anywhere, so he can obtain his ADL. I am told that there are a lot of Ukrainians driving trucks particularly around the Chicago area.

Just an update for all. Our first family is doing well in Hillsborough. The two boys are in school and parents have some job options.
Our single truck driver is looking at schools in the US where he can get training for acquiring a CDL license and is hopefully coming within a month or so, his papers have been accepted and he is free to travel.
We have not had to lay out any expenses other than registering this group with the state of NC which cost $100 and we have raised about $800 in donations.
I am planning a fund raising dance event in the near future. Looking for a venue.
Thank you for the generous donations from Lee Pickett, Joel Meyer, Bob Proctor, Martha Lefebvre, Gary Shmook, and several others who preferred to stay unmamed, and thanks to Chapel Hill, Eno, and Durham Friends meeting for helping with publicity.
As before we are accepting donations and if you need credit card or Paypal go there. Checks can be addressed to Hillsborough Refugee Assistance Inc. and mailed to HRA- Jack WOlf 133 Murdock Dr. Hillsborough NC 27278.
