Life Forest provides burial options for both people and beloved pets.

Depending on the cemetery location and selected burial space, families may arrange for the burial of human cremated remains and pet cremated remains.

This allows families to choose a permanent resting place that reflects their values, relationships and connection to the natural world.

At Life Forest in our Cardinal Crossing burial area today, Mike our Cemetery Land Manager pointed out this beautiful Forest wildflower!

According to bluethumb.org, this is a “Bottle Gentian. A beautiful, slow-growing, native, perennial herb that is usually 1-2' tall. It has maroon to bronze fall color. A wonderful perennial for perennial gardens, rain gardens and rock gardens. It is used in restorations of prairies, wet meadows, lake edges, calcareous situations and ditches where it will be provided with enough sun the first growing season. It can be hard to establish in areas with significant competition.”

🐾 Waggin’ Wednesday: Meet Zuzu! 🐾

This week’s Waggin’ Wednesday sweetheart is Zuzu, a 2-year-old rescued Pit Bull from Texas with one incredible story. ❤️

Before Zuzu found her forever family, she was found behind a dumpster just a day or so after giving birth to eight puppies. Still practically a puppy herself, she protected every one of her babies and kept them safe until help arrived. All eight puppies were rescued and adopted, and their families still stay connected on Facebook today! The babies are affectionately known as the “Mermaid litter,” with names inspired by The Little Mermaid. 🧜‍♀️

Zuzu eventually entered foster care at about a year and a half old. Her foster family was only supposed to keep her for one week...

Yeah. We all know how that story ends. 😂

FOSTER FAIL.

They fell head over heels in love with each other, and Zuzu became family.

These days, her schedule is considerably less dramatic:

Eat. Play. Sleep. Repeat. 💤

She loves snuggling with her people, chewing on antlers, going for walks, playing with her toys, and keeping a very close eye on those suspicious neighborhood squirrels. 🐿️

And despite everything she’s been through, Zuzu is incredibly chill. She’ll peacefully lounge on the deck watching neighbors and their dogs walk by without making a sound.

In fact, Zuzu basically doesn’t bark.

Unless...

someone turns on the vacuum. 😂

Then apparently she has some things to say.

From brave teenage mama protecting eight tiny puppies behind a dumpster to beloved family dog living her best snuggly life, Zuzu is one very special girl.

A conservation cemetery combines permanent, legally recognized burial with care for the natural environment.

At Life Forest, cremated remains can be buried within protected woodland landscapes. Families receive a permanent place to visit while their choice also supports the long term care of the land.

It is a way to create a memorial that continues to live, grow and contribute to the forest.
