Chinmaya Mission Portland When Guruji was informed of the approval, he congratulated all of us and declared “the Port to the Lord is now open!”.

Chinmaya Mission Portland is located in the Tanasbourne area in Hillsboro, our activities include Balavihar for children, infancy through 18 years of age, CHYK (Chinmaya Yuva Kendra) groups for young adults, and study groups for adults. October 2nd is an important day for us, it was the day we honored one of the most integrated personalities of our times, Mahatma Gandhi, and, it was on 2nd October

2013 when Chinmaya Mission Portland’s petition for the Conditional Use Permit for our new building was unanimously approved by the Planning and Zoning Hearings Board for the City of Hillsboro. Murti Sthapana Mahotsav and the grand opening ceremony of Chinmaya Haridwar was from June 13th till June 17th 2014, presided by Pujya Guruji himself! It is only the Lord’s and Pujya Gurudev’s grace that propelled us to do this within one year of Guruji giving us the name for our center.

Mother’s Day is always a special and memorable occasion at Chinmaya Haridwar. Every year, we come together to celebrate Gurudev Jayanti, Bala Vihar Graduation, and Mother’s Day as one beautiful celebration of love, gratitude, and learning.

This year, 12 of our students graduated from 12th grade. The ceremony began with the graduates carrying Pujya Gurudev’s padukas, symbolizing the sacred teachings that continue to guide and inspire their lives. After the puja, we honored each graduate and invited them to reflect on what they learned through their years at Chinmaya Mission Portland.

It was a truly proud and heartwarming moment to hear them express gratitude for our community and share how they plan to carry Gurudev’s teachings forward in their lives. ❤️

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate the 30th year of Chinmaya Mission Portland and the 12th year at Chinmaya Haridwar.

We begin with the Shodasha Upachara Puja, followed by the Hanuman Chalisa Havan. The Hanuman Chalisa Havan is a sacred Vedic fire offering in which verses from the Hanuman Chalisa are chanted in praise of Lord Hanuman—the embodiment of strength, devotion, courage, and selfless service. Offerings made into the sacred fire symbolize the surrender of personal limitations and the offering of heartfelt prayers at the feet of Lord Hanuman.

How to Participate in the Puja and Havan

Devotees may sign up as Yajman(s)—individually or with family—by submitting their names, gotra, and sankalpa in advance, along with their dakshina. These details will be recited during the opening sankalpa of the havan. After the havan, the yajmans will receive special prasada of Hanumanji from Swamiji.

Alternatively, devotees may RSVP below and attend the havan in person on the day of the event.
