Gobble, gobble... wait, that's not until November! 🦃

But you could mark your calendar now so you don't miss one of the Highland County Senior Citizens Center's most popular fundraisers of the year!

Our annual 100+ Turkey Bingo Fundraiser returns on the first Saturday of November. We'll have nearly 150 turkeys on site for attendees to have a chance to win, plus plenty of raffle items and prizes throughout the day.

And we're not just talking about hours of BINGO—we're planning a raffle extravaganza, too! Support the Senior Center and everyone wins big!

While you're marking your November calendar, be sure to mark the beginning of September as well—that's when Advance Admission Tickets go on sale.

Advance Admission Tickets do more than guarantee your admission. Each ticket also serves as a scratch-off ticket for a chance to win a turkey before the event even begins!

A limited number of Advance Admission Tickets will be available, so be sure to purchase yours early.

Admission tickets will also be available at the door, but you'll want to watch our page for details on Advance Admission Ticket sales.

The public is invited. Must be 18 years of age or older to attend.

Oh, and one more thing... there's no limit to how many turkeys you can win! 🦃🦃🦃

We'll share more details as the event gets closer, but for now, save the date and get ready for another fun-filled day of bingo, prizes, raffles, and turkeys!

"Oh, the memories!" 🎂

This photo was taken during the Highland County Senior Citizens Center's 10th Anniversary Celebration. Since the Center was established in 1970, that means this picture was likely taken in 1980—more than 45 years ago!

Who remembers the Senior Center in 1980?

Better yet, who remembers our building before 1975 when it was one of Hillsboro's first Kroger stores?

We'd love to hear your memories, stories, and perhaps even recognize some familiar faces in this photo. Share your memories in the comments below! 👇

We proudly prepare and deliver nutritious meals to eligible older adults living in the City of Hillsboro and areas just outside the city limits.

Our meals are prepared fresh each morning and feature menus that are reviewed and approved by a registered dietitian to help ensure seniors receive balanced, nutritious meals.

The program serves both Private Pay and PASSPORT clients and helps older adults continue living independently while enjoying the convenience of home-delivered meals.

Our annual Bleach Party was a huge success!

Last week our members came ready to have fun, and they certainly did. Between the laughter, music, refreshments, chair volleyball, and time spent with friends, a great afternoon was had by all.

Most importantly, our members came together to support the Center by donating a tremendous amount of bleach, helping us keep our facility clean and safe for everyone who visits.

A special thank you to Close to Home Assisted Living of Sardinia for sponsoring the refreshments and grand prize drawing. We appreciate your continued support of our members and our Center.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year's Bleach Party such a success. We are grateful for the generosity, friendship, and community spirit that make the Highland County Senior Citizens Center such a special place!

A BIG thank you to the Big Give Project! ❤️

The group reached out to the Center and asked if there was a project they could help with, and we were grateful to have them lend a hand. Their volunteer team spent Saturday cleaning up leaves, brush, and debris from our parking lot, tackling a project that required a lot of hard work and effort.

Because of their generosity and willingness to serve, it was one less thing for our staff to worry about. We are truly thankful for all they accomplished in just a short amount of time.

Thank you to the local churches that brought the Big Give Project to our community, and thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help the Highland County Senior Citizens Center. Your kindness, hard work, and commitment to serving others are greatly appreciated!

We are blessed to be part of such a caring community. 😊

We're getting ready to celebrate America's 250th Birthday at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center!

Our staff did a wonderful job decorating the Center with patriotic displays, flags, and red, white, and blue decorations. While digging through storage, we even discovered some small handheld American flags tucked away in a box that have probably been part of our decorations since the 1980s!

We also added some color to our flower bed using flower decorations that were generously donated to the Center years ago. They were the perfect addition to our patriotic display.

We are excited to celebrate this historic milestone with our members. The band will be playing, and we'll be enjoying an old-fashioned sing-along featuring some of our favorite patriotic songs.

Be sure to take a look at the decorations the next time you visit the Center. We think the staff did an amazing job helping us get ready for America's 250th celebration!

We had a more exciting week than usual at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center last week!

Suddenly, a strong mechanical odor filled the building. The band was playing, the pool tables were busy, Euchre was going, folks in the gym, chair volleyball was in action- the Center was full of activity. As a precaution, staff evacuated members and guests to the parking lot while we contacted the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District. Their team arrived quickly, thoroughly checked the building, and determined it was safe for everyone to return inside. Thankfully, the smell turned out to be worse than the actual problem, but the safety of our members will always be our top priority.

While waiting for the all-clear, our members made the best of the situation by gathering in the parking lot for an impromptu sing-along!

While the firefighters were on site, we mentioned another challenge we had been facing—a stuck flagpole rope that was preventing us from flying our the United States flag. The crew kindly used their ladder truck to take a closer look. Unfortunately, the rope needed to be replaced, so we ordered a new one.

A few days later, the firefighters returned and helped install the new rope and even raised both our American flag and our America 250 flag.

We are grateful to the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District for their quick response, assistance, and dedication to our community. While we typically never enjoy having to call them, some of our members certainly enjoyed watching the ladder truck in action!

Thank you for helping keep our seniors safe and for going above and beyond to lend a hand.
