Do you sometimes feel like you’re never enough?

Like you’ll never do enough.
Accomplish enough.
Give enough.
Be enough.

Think about what would happen if we treated our horses that way.

Imagine asking your horse for something—and when they try, you keep asking.

They try harder. You keep asking.

They finally give you exactly what you wanted… and then there’s still no release. No reward. No moment that says, “Yes. That was it. You did it.”

Eventually, they’d stop knowing what you were asking for at all.

Good horsemanship teaches us to recognize the try. To reward progress. And to release pressure when our horse gives us the answer we were looking for.

But how often do we forget to do that for ourselves?

We reach one goal and immediately move the finish line.

We accomplish something difficult and focus on what we could have been better.

We make progress and tell ourselves it still isn’t enough.

Maybe we could learn something from the grace we give our horses.

Recognize the try.
Reward the progress.
Release the pressure.

And every once in a while, allow yourself to hear:

✨ “Yes. That was enough. You did good.” ✨

At GaitWay, horsemanship is about so much more than learning to work with a horse. Sometimes, the lessons they teach us are really lessons about ourselves.

Here at GaitWay we have barn mentors that volunteer to aid Dream Makers through their shifts.

Our barn mentors help Dream Makers with studying for tests, chores, and even advice.

Every shift is a different experience and our mentors give a hand anywhere needed.

With more life experience, they give great mentorship for younger girls.

Whether it's guidance for horsemanship or everyday occurrences, they are always willing to step in and give support.

Thank you barn mentors for volunteering your time and strength to assist GaitWay's Dream Makers!

“Horses changed my life.”

It’s a sentence we hear in different ways all the time at GaitWay.

For some, horses build confidence. For others, they teach patience, responsibility, or how to trust again. Sometimes, they simply provide a place to “just be.”

But the horses are only able to keep changing lives because people in our community choose to show up for them.

That’s why Wild West Fest is so important. 🤠

On Saturday, November 7 from 2–6 PM, our community will come together for an afternoon of live music, family fun, shopping, food, games, our Silent Auction, mechanical bull rides, meet & greets with the horses, and so much more.

And behind all of that fun is a much bigger purpose.

Wild West Fest helps us care for the horses at the heart of our mission and continue providing programs where girls and women can build confidence, learn life skills, find community, and discover what they’re truly capable of.

We would LOVE to see you there.
