🇺🇸🎗️🇺🇸 Ok folks - we’re trying something new here… A Walmart Wish List for deployed Troops from our area - we have ❌URGENT❌ requests coming in to help around 35 Men & Women serving overseas right now… This list should be easily accessible by the public, what we aren’t sure is how it might show for drop-shipping options for anyone wanting to help… So here’s the deal - Use the list for guidance of items and how many of each are listed as needed; if you want to have items delivered, send to:

Walmart Shopping Lists; your go-to place to keep you organized

This Friday, September 18th, 2026, is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Around the U.S., many observances will have one table set apart from the rest. It’s small, dignified, and set for someone who isn't there.

It's called the Missing Man Table, and every object on it carries deliberate meaning:
The table itself is small, representing the frailty of one prisoner standing alone against his captors. A white tablecloth speaks to the purity of that person's intentions in answering the call to serve. A single red rose, often tied with a yellow or red ribbon, honors the blood that may have been shed — and the families who still bear witness, demanding their return. A slice of lemon and a scattering of salt on the bread plate mark a bitter fate and the tears of those left waiting. The glass sits inverted, since the missing cannot share in a toast. A Bible represents the faith that sustains those still hoping. The black napkin represents the plain truth that what became of them remains unknown. And an empty chair reserved for the missing.

The POW/MIA flag placed at this table exists as a reminder that more than 1,565 Americans remain unaccounted for from the Vietnam War alone and reflects only one conflict, among several, of which families are still waiting for answers.

Our “2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ Thank You for Your Service!!” greeting cards campaign is going great thanks to 🎗️Support Our Troops Of Highland County and the 🇺🇸Highland County Veterans Services - we still have about ( 50 ) blank cards that would like to be filled out by you, your business, or organization, for us to mail out before November 1st, BUT, we are also seeking other local 🎗️Troops and 🇺🇸Homebound-Veterans (care-facilities count, also!) to mail them to!

🆘 Help us spread some 😁 smiles across the miles 🌎 and text 9️⃣3️⃣7️⃣•7️⃣6️⃣3️⃣•8️⃣1️⃣6️⃣4️⃣ if you’d like to take part in filling out a card and/or have someone in mind you’d like to receive one (maybe more)!!

Join us and all the other Highland County Veterans Service Orgnaizations as we pay tribute to those who/Who have !!!

With the help of Support Our Troops Of Highland County and the Highland County Veterans Services Office, we were able to kick off one of our 🇺🇸 projects on July 4th this year - we have a goal to send out at least 250 💌 cards to local Troops serving our country away from home and Veterans that are homebound or in care facilities before December 1st - and it’s going great!!

So far, we have set up a card signing booth at Highland County’s America 250 celebration, another one at the recent Highland County National Night Out, the DAR Waw-wil-way Chapter is having all their members fill out and sign a card AND NOW - we are welcoming other individuals, businesses and organizations to join in and send some good vibes to those who are, or have served our country!!

If you’d like to join us in this project, all you need to do is send a text message to 937.763.8164 to get set up with a card(s).

Thank you so much to 🎗️Support Our Troops Of Highland County for sponsoring all the postage and helping with the admin side of addressing all of them, and all the cards were supplied by the 🇺🇸Highland County Veterans Services!!! This project wouldn’t be possible with their generous support!!

Team Rubicon will be in Highland County tomorrow, Thursday, August 13, conducting damage assessments in the area. If you see their volunteers — known as "Greyshirts" — out and about, please give them a warm welcome.

Team Rubicon is a veteran-led organization that responds to disasters nationwide, and their assessment team is here to help us understand the impact and plan next steps for recovery.
