Pasture management is an ongoing task. Our horses spend a lot of their off time on pasture, so caring for it is an important part of caring for them.
Throughout the year, we're mowing, managing weeds, monitoring for areas impacted by wildlife and burrowing critters, and removing manure daily. The health of the grass is important, but these practices also reduce disease carrying pests like flies, mosquitoes, and ticks, and other issues that could impact the land, the horses, and our participants.
Recently, our fields were soil tested, fertilized, and overseeded as seen in the photos. The soil analysis helps determine exactly which nutrients are needed, and specialized equipment applies those nutrients evenly to support optimal grass growth and long-term pasture health.
