Happy Feast of Saint Louise de Marillac! Saint Louise was born into a noble family in sixteenth-century France but was shunned by her father’s family, and had to live with distant relatives. She eventually married and had one son. Her spiritual director was Saint Frances de Sales. After her husband died, she met Saint Vincent de Paul, who became her new spiritual director and with whom she founded the non-cloistered Daughters of Charity to serve the poor and orphans of Paris.

It's and at St Vincent de Paul you can assured that your donation to the Good Shepherd Council will help local families in need, right here in Hillsboro. We have several ways you can give.
Tax deductible monetary donations can be dropped off at Good Shepherd Rectory or marked in Sunday collections. Food pantry donations are always welcome. We also have lots of ornaments left on our Christmas giving tree, in the back of our church. Pick one or two up and return by December 11th to make someone's Christmas a little brighter.

Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Good Shepherd will be available to accept donations this Saturday from 9-12 in the Good Shepherd Cafeteria or can be left in the back of church anytime or brought to the parish office during office hours. While you are out shopping for your Thanksgiving Meals or Christmas please consider purchasing items for our Neighbors in Need. -Thank you.

JEFFERSON COUNTY TOYS AND MORE WILL BE DISTRIBUTING ON SATURDAY DEC 17, 2022 FROM 7:00 AM TO 4:00 PM AT SACRED HEART CAFETERIA IN CRYSTAL CITY MO. THE FAMILIES WILL RECEIVE (PER CHILD) SEVERAL TOYS, STOCKING STUFFERS, SOCKS, UNDERWEAR, OUTFIT, CAPS, GLOVES, GAME, HEALTH AND BEAUTY ITEMS AND A BAG OF FOOD. Saturday September 24th, 8 members of Good Shepherd visited Sacred Heart Parish in Festus to team up for Vincentian Stations of the Cross and Friends of the Poor Walk. It was wonderful to meet members of the Sacred Heart Conference of St. Vincent de Paul and enjoy prayer and fellowship as well as walk on the beautiful day.

Today is the Feast Day of St Vincent de Paul, the namesake and inspiration of our society, which was founded in 1835 by Blessed Frederick Ozanam.

Take some time to familiarize yourself with him and then keep our neighbors in need in your prayers and consider making a donation to your local conference, or volunteering your time to help serve those in need.

Consider making a donation to a local St Vincent de Paul thrift store or start cleaning out your closets and basement and give those extra items to those in need. Shop at a St. Vincent de Paul thrift store.

Spend some time in prayer today. Here is one to get you started. Reflect on those that are poor and undeserved, and imagine what it might feel like to be food insecure or unable to heat your home.

O God you are a God of justice, mercy, and compassion. Support us, your servants of the poor, as we endeavor to bring your love and compassion to people who are homeless and in need of your love. We pray that we will see you, our all-loving God in each homeless person we encounter and in our service for those in need.
